Hello again from the VERY snow-filled state of Oregon!
The past couple days have been spent cooped in my sister’s house hiding from the mass of snow that has accumulated outside. (To tell you the truth, I’m getting a bit of cabin fever) but NEAL ARRIVES today! EEE!
It’s been awhile since he’s been able to come out and visit my family, so we’re all so excited to see him. We’ll spend the weekend in Bend and then we’re renting an SUV and heading to Portland for another couple of days to knock out some wedding planning, and have a little bit of fun in the city. We love Portland and are so excited to get to spend some time downtown, where our wedding weekend will be happening!
In other exciting news today, I’m so excited to share some home updates we’ve made recently with the help of Pottery Barn Teen. Despite the fact (womp womppppp) that I am NOT a teenager, far from it, actually–I really love a lot of their items –they have some really fun decor, gifts, and the coziest slippers ever (you’ll see, I’ll explain, keep scrolling) all at really affordable price points!
One of my favorite ways to switch up my decor in preparation for #Chiberia (AKA what we call Chicago from mid December through, um…April?) is to really focus on the cozy elements. Lot’s of textures, knits, soft EVERYTHING, and plenty of faux fur. Here are a few ways I’ve incorporated faux fur into the mix for the holidays:
Furry Throw Pillows
Switching up your throw pillows is one of the easiest ways to make your home more festive and cozy. I love this furry throw pillow! (It may or may not be fun to pet while watching Netflix….)
Faux Fur Throw
I have these ALL over the house right now. They’re the perfect finishing touch draped over a chair or at the foot of the bed. I love how this one has a fun reversible side, too. It’s the perfect size–big enough to keep you warm, but not TOO big, so it looks really pretty thrown over our favorite leather chair!
Faux Fur Beanbag
Better known as THE beanbag I’ve been talking about a lot here recently. Think of it as an oversized floor pouf that is actually comfortable to lounge in. I LOVE sitting by the fire (especially with our newly re-designed fireplace!) but the brick hearth is hard and cold to sit on, so this beanbag was the perfect solution. Neal’s mom refers to him (I decided it was a “he”) as the “fuzzy caterpillar” which I think describes him perfectly. I haven’t come up with a name for him yet–currently taking any and all ideas.
Okay okay. This probably does NOT qualify as home decor, I know. But THESE SLIPPERS. I die. They feel like cushiony clouds of furriness. I am well aware of how outrageous they are but they are SO warm and comfortable I never want to take them off. They’re like mini furry beanbags for your feet, and they would make the best gift! If I were having a winter wedding I think I would get them for all of my bridesmaids, haha!
What’s your favorite way to decorate (or, ahem, wear) faux fur?
(P.S. Stay tuned for a living room & kitchen update reveal coming soon!)
