HAPPY FRIDAY guys!
Sorry for the radio silence yesterday! Kelly and I spent the day shooting our new Winter/Holiday Guide with Julie and I was so busy prepping that I ran out of time to get a blog post up! (Seriously though, it’s going to be reallyyy amazing. We’re hoping to be able to release it next week but we’ve still got a LOT to do. Stay tuned for that!)
Today’s post, however, was definitely worth the wait (promise!) because I’m sharing some really exciting updates that we’ve made to our master bedroom!
A lot has happened since last time you got a glimpse of it in this post. It’s so funny, I glanced through those photos before I started writing this post and it’s crazy to see how much it’s changed.
Funny enough, even though it SEEMS like we’ve made some huge design updates, it’s really only due to two key pieces. Isn’t that nuts how much of a difference two statement pieces can make?
…Can you spot what they are? (!?!)
Let’s do a little “Before” refresher…
OKAY I’ll tell you. I can’t contain my enthusiasm.
Our new Lulu & Georgia rug is easily one of my favorite things in our whole house. It makes me so happy to see it every time I walk in the room and makes the moment where my feet hit the ground each morning a little brighter. It’s the Moon Canyon rug in “Salsa.” (I mean, come on. It’s called SALSA. Do you know my love of Mexican food? Clearly we were meant to be.)
Lulu & Georgia is hands down one of my favorite online spots to shop for rugs. This wasn’t actually the first L&G rug I fell in love with–have you ever seen Blair’s? I’ve loved hers for a long time, so I knew they were really awesome quality and that one day I needed one of my own!
(The day is finally hereeeeeeee!)
Of course, we had to settle on something that was the right balance of feminine AND masculine, that would match our vintage/eclectic vibe, and this was it!
I want pretty much everything on their site–not just rugs, but all kinds of decor–the cutest throw pillows, furniture, bed & bath, gifts, lighting and more. I love that they have so many different styles and something to suite everyone’s taste. I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t obsessed with L&G!
Thennn there’s the HEADBOARD!
Have you ever seen a cooler, one of a kind headboard? (BAMBOO! I’m so obsessed!!)
It’s from MegMade. Have you heard of MegMade? Hands down one of my favorite Chicago companies, and if we’re being honest, one my favorite companies ever. They specialize in up-cycling amazing, one-of-a-kind vintage pieces and customizing them into anything and everything you’ve ever dreamed of.
Plus, Meg, their founder, is absolutely amazing. She started the company just a few short years ago and is now a force to be reckoned with in the vintage furniture world. (I basically want to be her best friend. Hopefully she doesn’t read this and think I’m a creep.) Plus, she just got a mini pig named “Purpose.” (I’m going to visit her warehouse again soon to meet Purpose, so expect some really great Instagram stories coming your way.)
The experience was so cool from start to finish. You can stop by the showroom to peruse their finished pieces, or, if you prefer to totally customize a piece of your own, you can choose from the thousands of pieces in her warehouse and customize it in any finish/color/stain/paint/hardware goodness that you’d like. We got our new coffee table from her too, so stay tuned for more updates on that soon 😉
I’ve been feeling ALL the bamboo lately–this headboard was originally a white color, but we picked glossy black to make it really pop against our white wall. I love that it adds so much personality to our room and it makes me do a little happy dance every time I catch it out of the corner of my eye.
You’ll also notice we made some styling updates to our dresser! Since it’s vintage, it came with its fair share of nicks and scratches. There are a couple water rings on it that I wanted to figure out how to disguise, and when I saw this rose colored linen table runner at West Elm I knew it would be perfect for the job!
See the three photos it the black frame? That was a gift from Neal’s parents for our engagement party. It is seriously one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever received and is so special! It includes photos of Neal’s Grandma and Grandpa, Papa and Mimi and his parents on their wedding days. The fourth spot is blank, for us 🙂 We started crying when we opened it!
Finally–that adorable photo of Neal in the smaller frame? (My favorite photo of all time, taken right before he proposed, when he saw me getting out of the car.) It’s actually this really crazy techy photo frame called Aura. You synch it with your iPhone and you can add as many photos as you want, and it rotates them in and out! I love when I walk in the room because I’m never sure which photo I’m going to see! I loaded all of our engagement photos on it and my favorites of me and my girlfriends 🙂
