Strappy sports bra/crop top: Reebok–available here (Yesss PRIME!) and here in teal –I love this strappy version from Nike (only $40!) as well! also, I just discovered these sports bras on Amazon–they’re so cute, come in so many colors and are like $15!// Yoga pants: Lululemon “Align II” pants (they are absolutely A-MAZING–I live in them, both in and out of the yoga studio and they’re not very expensive as far as Lululemon goes!)–there’s also a ton of cute yoga pants on sale at Nordstrom as part of their winter sale if you’re in the market for some new ones!
So, you guys. I never thought this day would come, but.
We’re officially almost 6 months away from our wedding, and now I like…have to start whipping my you-know-what into shape.
The hardest part for me is getting to the workout part. I don’t particularly enjoy “working out” in the traditional sense.
I HATE working out. Like, I loathe it. I really don’t enjoy the feeling of being out of breath–I hate cardio, and I certainly cannot stand someone bootcamp-style yelling at me to “make the next five minutes count.”
Thankfully, I found a workout that I actually really do LOVE–I wrote about it here. (Spoiler alert: It’s CorePower Yoga and I’m obsessed with it–they offer a free week trial too if you’d like to try it out yourself!) It’s made such a huge difference in not only my body but my mental well-being as well.
However, that does not make it easier to actually get. my. butt. in. the. door.
Why is getting there the hardest part? Do you feel the same way?
In case you find yourself in the same boat in this mid-winter-pre-spring slump, here are three things that have really helped me when it comes to workout motivation–give them a try, and let me know what you think!
Schedule your workouts
I’ve found that when I’ve taken the time to sit down on a Monday morning and schedule when I’m going to work out–I stick to it much better.
I actually go through the CorePower schedule and figure out which classes fit in best with my days, and I literally create meetings titled “Yoga” on my calendar. I also set a 30 minute “meeting” right beforehand that is labeled “get ready for yoga.”
For whatever reason, this little trick really helps my mindset and makes it harder to say, “oh, I’ll just catch the later class…” even though I know it will never happen
Wear cuter clothes
SERIOUSLY. Call me ridiculous but this WORKS, you guys. When I look forward to wearing something new that I think is super cute, I look forward to working out a whole lot more. I hadn’t bought new workout clothes since who knows when, but knowing I have a cute outfit to put on (like this adorable strappy sports bra/crop top)–its so much easier to make time for working out.
This is a big one, too! I don’t mean “make friends” in the sense that you should always have a workout buddy to keep you accountable, I mean actually make new friends at the gym, your studio, or wherever you work out. When I make friends with instructors who know my name and say “nice to see you” and ask about what’s new in my life–it’s a whole different draw to working out. When you have a community to look forward to (and say, “I missed you last week!”) it gives you something to look forward to that you don’t get anywhere else.
