Happy Tuesday guys!
We’re back with another vacation post today ??(I’ve been intentionally spacing out my Mexico posts so we can make them last until it’s ALMOST spring. ?)
Granted, it was SO WONDERFUL in Chicago yesterday–seriously–50 degrees!! I walked around in rain boots and didn’t wear a puffer coat! It was GLORIOUS. It reminded me what Spring feels like. Oh, and I went to Red June cafe for the first time in Bucktown to get some work done yesterday. It was SO adorable, the food was great, and they serve Julius Meinl coffee which is one of my faves–I’m tempted to go back today! (Do you ever feel creepy discovering a new place and you want to go back like ALL the time but you’re worried the people who work there will be like “we get it, you’re a stalker…?”)
Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite must-have items for any warm weather vacation. These are pretty much what I lived in during our stay at Unico. (I’ll be doing a review of the resort too–it wasn’t sponsored or anything, but so many of you guys have asked, I figured I’d do a write up on that too!) Long story short–it was fantastic, and I would highly recommend staying there!
Anyway, if you’re planning any vacation somewhere warm and tropical soon, you will DEFINITELY want to bookmark my favorite vacation essentials. (Some are the best Amazon steals EVER!)
Vacation Essentials for a Warm Weather Getaway
I have never spent this much money ($130) on a pair of jeans shorts, but after years of every blogger and their mom (including Shaheen ?) raving about them, I finally gave in. I haven’t been able to find a good pair of cutoffs that weren’t too short for my liking, and these are PERFECT. Plus, I mean, hello. They’re jean shorts. They’ll last forever!
They run true to size. I got my normal size–25, and I think they fit perfectly. 10/10 WORTH THE INVESTMENT.
NOTE: I would not normally post a photo of MY BUTT on the internet, but I thought it was necessary to show you how they fit in the back ?
One of my favorite cover-ups, I went out on a limb and got these for our honeymoon (you know how hit or miss Amazon clothes can be) but this did not disappoint! Because it’s white, it’s EXTRA fun to wear as a honeymooner, but I’ve worn it several times since, too! ?It reminds me of macrame–I feel like I totally fit in with the Unico vibe. ?It’s cute to wear with a tank and jean shorts too–(like, as a shirt thingy, not just a cover-up!)
Okay, I’m so sad because this was fully stocked in every size and color when I went to Mexico. I linked to it several times while I was there though and I swear you guys sold it out ?(It was one of my top selling items of January!)
I’m guessing it will come back in stock (it always has before) so keep your eye on it, but right now it’s only available in red! Wahhh! Red is still really cute though! (This one looks similar, however, and is only $24!!)
Honestly though, this is literally my favorite bathing suit that I own. ?
The same look as the super expensive version, but for less than 10 bucks, you can’t beat it. The material also doesn’t squeeze you in the wrong places and create dreaded muffin top. It’s super comfortable. BUT, also, it has zero support, so if you need support, it won’t be the suit for you. Also don’t wear it doing anything active unless you secure it with the optional halter strap. (Learned that one the hard way.)
Is it high quality? No. It’s $10!! You get what you pay for, but that’s okay. Still the best Amazon buy ever.
These are my FAVORITE flat sandals (and very inexpensive Hermes dupes ?) They require no break-in, are so comfortable–I walked all over Capri in them this summer. Dress them up, dress them down–honestly, I don’t think you need any other flat sandal ever. Shop all colors here.
The other super cheap cover-up I got for our honeymoon–this one is in black. It’s almost lingerie-like which I think is so pretty–but not so much that it’s over the top! I love the little ribbon/bow detail as well. It also looks really cute worn as a kimono with a black tank–it would be so cute with that over white jeans and wedges for night or worn with jean shorts during the day!
You guys ALWAYS ask about these and I always forget to link them! They’ve been my go-to everyday earrings for awhile now, and I love them so much. I think they’re the perfect thing to wear when you want something subtle but stylish. I wore them every day in Mexico, too! If you only brought one pair of earrings on vacation, I would choose these!
How cute is this hat!? Again, another cheap Amazon find ?But such a good one! The inside is adjustable so it fits all head sizes. (However, make sure to cut off the weird strings–don’t mind them just hanging in front of my face in the above photos ?OOPS.
I actually got two items from this brand called Kos Resort! I hadn’t ever heard of them but I found them on Shopbop. (My favorite part about Shopbop is the free Amazon Prime shipping and the fact that they sell smaller, unique brands I wouldn’t have found otherwise! They are also my go-to for vacation dresses!) It’s so cute, you can totally wear it as a dress IF you were shorter than me. (It barely skims the bottom of my butt, haha–but I’m 5’6!) Runs true to size.
My #1 pair of sunglasses–I rarely wear ANYTHING else. They are my absolute favorites–I get so many questions on them and yes, I would 100% recommend them. They go with everything, they’re such a classic shape, they make every outfit cuter! These come in two sizes, and I have the bigger size–the 53″ pair! I actually wrote an entire post on our favorite pairs of Ray Bans (Neal wears them a ton too!) which you can read right over here!
Okay this isn’t technically a clothing item BUT–everyone needs to get one of these for a hot vacation. ?
When we were on our honeymoon, we stayed the first half of our trip at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, which is an all-inclusive resort (read my write-up here and see our Cabo honeymoon video here! Anyway, we were all-inclusive rookies–so many people had brought their own tumblers with them to keep their drinks super cold in the heat–GENIUS.
Before our trip, we both ordered Yeti tumblers so we could be the veterans this time ?I’m one of those people who won’t drink anything if it isn’t ice cold, so this is going to be a game-changer for me! We also got the straw and straw lid to go with them! I also brought my Swzle metal straw set because I love them so much–they come with a little carrying case and a cleaning brush! They’re a local Chicago start-up too! ??
I highly recommend filling your Yeti’s with “Icebergs”–aka half frozen margarita, half Mexican beer. It’s like a marg, but less sweet and acidic. SO GOOD. (Except don’t drink too many of them under the hot sun or you will slip and fall out of your sandals into a bush. Not that that happened.)
