Sorry for the radio silence yesterday–I was experiencing some techy issues that took awhile to get fixed. The good news is that those are over and we’re back to normal here. (Phew!)
Today, I’m rounding up some of my favorite winter items–both what I’ve been using/wearing lately, and what I’ve got on my wish list! From clothing, to beauty, to home-goods, and even my favorite cold-weather activity. Let’s jump in, shall we?
I own a similar, mirrored pair of these foldable Ray Bans, and they are by far the BEST invention ever. Not only am I obsessed with round aviators, but these fold up into a case that is 1/4 of the size of your normal glasses case. As a girl who is always struggling to fit all her essentials into a little bag, this makes it infinitely easier. (These are especially great for traveling!)
I have to admit, I own a couple pairs of rain boots but I’ve been reaching for my minimalistic black pair more than usual lately. I love this Tory Burch version–they go with everything, and you can barely even tell they’re rain boots!
Cards Against Humanity is one of my all-time favorite games year-round, but there’s something even more amazing about a night in with friends drinking wine and playing this insane card game. Warning: It can get pretty profane, but it’ll have you laughing so hard your face hurts! We recently played this at Emily’s and we were in stitches!
My best college girlfriends and I recently did a candle exchange in lieu of a holiday get together. At first the word “candle exchange” made me feel really old, but it was actually the best idea ever. I got the BEST candle from my friend Gianna (thanks, Gi!) Long story short, I’ve searched for it online everywhere and can’t find it (so I’m not really sure why I told you this story) but I’m equally in love with Voluspa candles (which I brought to the candle exchange ;-)) If you haven’t tried them yet, be warned: you’ll become VERY addicted. Buy one in every scent, seriously. The other day Neal came home and found me with soot on my nose, let me walk around like that for an hour or two, and finally asked, “have you been sniffing those candles again?”
In love with this cozy grey, slightly cropped mock turtleneck sweater from Club Monaco. Because who doesn’t need a great grey sweater in their life?
If you can’t tell from my recent posts, I’ve been living in boyfriend jeans lately. I was on a dark skinny jeans kick there for awhile and when I re-discovered these in my closet, well, I haven’t exactly taken them off. I think they make outfits look way more interesting than standard jeans!
This stuff is magic for my dried-out winter hair, I’ve been using it for years! I apply it when my hair is still damp, and then let it air dry. I also apply it after I curl my hair for a shiny finish.
I’ve been trying out bareMinerals new Skinsorials program recently, and this is by far my favorite product! My skin gets SO DRY in the winter, I am often reduced to tears when applying my makeup because my foundation just seems to crack off at times. However, a couple applications in with this stuff and it has completely ELIMINATED all dryness. I love it. I was also slightly worried because it’s scented and my skin is crazy sensitive–but so far, no issues!
I love tortoise everything, and this clutch is no exception. I love that you can wear it as a clutch or with the gold metallic strap. Plus, it looks just as great in winter as it does in the summer!
In Chicago, there is NO escaping the winter weather and my hands in particular get sooo cold. I just learned about this Zippo hand warmer that is supposed to be a game changer (I always use kind you buy at the drugstore and shake, which never last very long, so I’m excited to try this one.) You slip these toasty warmers in a little pouch and stick them in mittens, pockets, even your boots. (It would be perfect for a ski trip, too!) I’m going to try them out and I will let you know my thoughts!
I’m very weird about color, and admittedly, I don’t own a lot of green, but something about these earrings just stood out to me. They’re such a great way to make a statement!
I’ve been on the hunt for some great leather gloves (I recently lost my favorite gloves I purchased in Italy while studying abroad there years ago. Wah!) and these adorable feminine bow gloves fit the bill! They also come in several colors (including an adorable red!)
While you know how much I love a great red lip, I’ve been loving a more soft, feminine lip lately as well. M.A.C. makes some of my favorite lip gloss, and I love this light pink color!
I LIVE in my chunky wool sweater. It’s honestly one of the best things I’ve ever purchased, and totally worth the investment. J.Crew has a great version I’ve been eyeing lately. (I probably don’t need another…but…maybe I do?!) In all seriousness, if you don’t own one yet, it’s on purchase you won’t regret!
On the few days it’s been more than 30 degrees lately (SPRING BREAK!) I’ve loved pulling out my loafers. I own a pair in black and navy, but I’ve really been wanting this chic camel colored pair from Everlane. My friend Blair owns them and I always love whenever she wears them. Also, per her tip, order a half size up, they run REALLY small!
Do I have a thing for tassels lately? Maybe. Am I a sucker for blue suede shoes? Apparently. All I know is that these blue suede M.Gemi tassel heels need to be in my closet.
Okay, no brainer here–right? We all need puffy coats for this insane weather we’ve been experiencing. However, rarely do I come across one that I would actually want to wear. I love this version from J.Crew that isn’t too puffy, and comes with an adorable faux fur trim. The belt also creates a waist so you don’t look like a walking marshmallow.
What are your favorite winter items right now?
