Happy Monday, friends!
How was your weekend?
We did…absolutely nothing. But I got to spend a leisurely Saturday morning curled up in bed with coffee and a book and it was glorious, and we went for a long Sunday walk. I really have no complaints!
In lieu of our usual On a High note post today, I’m sharing some Thanksgiving Outfit inspo today because–can you believe it? The countdown to turkey day has begun! Since our plans are looking a lot different this year, I’m guessing our “Thanksgiving outfits” will too. 😂(Remember when we used to wear like, sweaters and leather skirts and heeled boots on Thanksgiving? LOL.)
Here are five cute and comfortable outfit ideas you can wear this Turkey day, no matter how you’re celebrating!
5 Cute and Comfy Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas
Cute & Cozy “elevated sweats”
Joggers (run TTS), Old sweater, but similar here from Nordstrom and this J.Crew one with the pom poms is also so cute and on sale, sneakers (run TTS) and I also adore my leather ABLE sneakers, old beanie, similar here!
The comfiest waffle joggers EVER. I just got a DM as I’m writing this saying, “GIRL I ordered those joggers last week from your gift guide. No life, LIFE CHANGING. Much needed upgrade to my loungewear. Not embarrassed to say I’ve been wearing them for 3 days straight!” They earned a prime spot in my “favorite things” gift guide for a reason!
I love wearing a pair of joggers with a cute neutral sweater (bonus if it’s got a chunky knit or texture to make things even more interesting! This Topshop version is so cute and half off right now!) I think it’s easy to think joggers just go with sweatshirts, but you can totally dress them up a little bit with a cute sweater for an at-home-friendly outfit that looks a bit more put together.
In fact, I actually wore this exact outfit earlier this morning to go on a coffee run. Perfect for lounging at home, going for walks, etc!
Fair isle casual
Fair isle sweater (TTS, wearing small)–also comes in another tan/cream colorway, Super comfy,fleece-lined Jeans (TTS, wearing size 4) , Madewell boots, tts.
I love a good festive sweater, but I try not to buy any that are TOO “Christmassy” because then you feel silly wearing them after the holidays! That’s why I love this sweater–it’s not too over the top, plus, I think the tan, cream and lavender is a really unique color combo, but it’s neutral enough to go with so many things in your wardrobe! The sleeves are a shorter 3/4 length which I think is cute and also really practical–I’m always pushing up my sleeves anyway, and they often get in my way when I’m cooking–so problem solved!
I also got these jeans last year and couldn’t stop raving about them–they’re Old Navy’s “Warm” jeans that are fleece lined! They are the only bottoms I wore in Quebec city when it was below zero. And even then they kept me so warm. Not only that, but they are so soft and so stretchy. I couldn’t think of better Thanksgiving jeans! Right now they’re also HALF off–so you pay a whopping $22! Do yourself a favor and get yourself a blue pair and a black pair–I have both and love them. Run TTS.

Finally, I purchased these lace-up boots from Madewell recently because I wanted a pair of non-heeled winter boots that weren’t snow-boots, and I loved the look of these. (I think because they kind of look like my hiking boots that I grew to love so much this summer. 😂) Many of you got them too and were asking for some more style inspo. So I’m styling these two ways today! (FYI, they run TTS–and they’re very comfortable right out of the box! They won’t take long to break in!)

(Here’s a better look at the boots!)
Wubby, but make it festive:
Fleece Cropped Cardigan (TTS, wearing small), Super comfy,fleece-lined Jeans (TTS, wearing size 4), The best waterproof/winter boots (TTS!) J.Crew Tartan Scarf
This cropped wubby-like cardigan has been my #1 bestseller this month, and I cannot say enough great things about it. It’s nubby on the outside and fleece on the inside. I love wearing it all by itself or unbuttoned with a cute tee or turtleneck underneath. Think of it like Wubby’s chicer, more stylish cousin. 😂 The length is also perfect–cropped enough to hit just at the right spot without needing to front-tuck! Looks great with jeans or leggings, especially when you add a festive scarf!
Also want to spotlight my winter boots here–I got these last year because I wanted a pair of snow boots that weren’t clunky and also didn’t look silly when I wore them if there wasn’t snow on the ground–these are everything I wanted and more! They’re cute, cozy, and waterproof–so don’t let the light color fool you! They are easy to spot clean and I have worn them through slush and mud. Run TTS!
Perfect for a post-turkey walk:
Topshop Sweater (TTS, wearing small), Madewell “Perfect Vintage” Jeans (TTS, but if you’re on the fence, go up a size). Madewell boots (Run TTS), Similar scarf here and here
How to style flat boots with straight leg jeans?
I wanted to share a second outfit, this time styling the Madewell boots with straight-leg jeans as I got some questions on how to make that work! The key when styling any boots with straight-leg jeans is to ensure there is a little tiny bit of room in between the bottom of your jean and the top of the boots. (I think this is always the key to making sure straight leg jeans don’t look too 80’s/90’s–they need to hit above the ankle.)
Spotlight on this sweater: I wasn’t sure if this sweater would be cute or kind of meh–but as soon as I took it out of the box I loved it. It’s surprisingly soft and I love how it’s cropped. So you don’t need to front tuck it–it hits just the right spot with high rise jeans or pants. Very comfy and cozy and the chunky knit adds a fun texture to every outfit you pair it with. Would be great with leggings too.
Sizing note on the jeans: These will feel like they run VERY VERY small at first. But they will stretch and mold to your body! I am wearing my normal “pandemic” size which is a 26 and they stretched out to be the perfect fit for “out in public” jeans or “wearing for a few hours” jeans. But if I wanted them to be like, super roomy pandemic jeans, I would’ve gone up a size! (I’m 5’6 for height reference). 30% off right now for Madewell Insiders (you just have to sign up for their email lit!)
The Mumu, Thanksgiving edition:
Amazon Mumu (I think it runs TTS but some report the bust area runs small–I have both XS and S in various colors and I like the way the XS fits best.) Boots are old Steve Madden, but these are very similar! I also love Madewell’s classic leather booties!
The mumu is back!! I got this fall colorway a while ago because I wanted to extend house-dress-wearing season to all year round. 😂Can you blame me? I can’t think of a better dress to wear for Thanksgiving. So comfy! So roomy! Honestly I think Joey would be jealous.
No matter what color yours is, you can fall-ify it by adding your favorite booties! This also looks really cute with a long sweater coat too! (This was the last outfit I put on today, so I’m still wearing this around the house as we speak–I added this chunky sweater coat, also from Amazon!)
