Due to the fact that I’m at my winter breaking point (yet I know it’s still going to be cold for at least another month and a half)–I decided a few fun, colorful sweaters were a necessary wardrobe addition. SO many of you loved the sweater I styled here, that I thought it would be fun to do a styling lesson on how to style a bold, colorful sweater lots of different ways! So in today’s post I’m teaming up with Nordstrom to style yet another sweater that I KNOW will bring some cheer to your wardrobe!
Like I’ve been saying a lot lately, just because something is bold doesn’t mean it can’t be versatile. I hope today proves it to you!
First, let’s talk about the start of the show–the striped sweater itself! Just like last week’s version this one is also B.P. from Nordstrom –which is one of my favorite go-to brands exclusive to Nordstrom! If something is B.P. I can count on it being adorable and reasonably priced. (This sweater I’m wearing here is under $50, and the one from last week is $55!) I typically always have great luck with Nordstrom brands–Halogen is another all-time favorite of mine as well. Speak of the devil, I’ll actually be styling this pretty coral Halogen sweater with the ruffle neck in another blog post very soon!
Shop more happy sweaters:
With leather leggings + waterproof suede boots:
You know my love for leather leggings–I think they go so nicely with this sweater in particular because of the subtle black stripe in the pattern that really ties it all together. You know I’ve spent my career convincing you that you don’t have to be “trendy” or “edgy” to pull of leather leggings. Hopefully this is a convincing example! This is a great way to still dress warm on a rainy/snowy day but still feel a little bit springy!
With leather leggings and sneakers:
Same sweater and leggings, different shoes! This is a great example of a comfy outfit for travel, or heading to a casual brunch on the weekends! Comfy, but still stylish and put-together!
With skinny jeans + loafers:
Sweater (runs TTS, wearing XS! This one and this one are also super similar and so cute!) Rag and Bone jeans, Gucci loafers (go down 1/2 size) but Sam Edelman makes the BEST dupe that is so comfy! Those run TTS!
If you work in a more casual environment, this is a great example of an outfit that is still very casual but polished and professional! Dark skinnies are also a very versatile choice, and you can’t go wrong with black loafers! Again, I really like pairing black items with this sweater because of the black stripe, and it helps tone down the springiness of the sweater so it still feels weather appropriate.
With a moto jacket, skinny jeans and sneakers:
Sweater (runs TTS, wearing XS! This one and this one are also super similar and so cute!) BLANKNYC moto jacket (snap this up NOW because it goes out of stock fast! Runs TTS) Rag and Bone jeans, Tretorn sneakers (so comfy, run TTS!) They’re also styled here!
I absolutely LOVE a good moto jacket, as you know– and going with a jacket color that ties in with the color of the sweater is always a foolproof move! I think it results in a fun color blocking matchy-matchy effect. If you’re someone that worries moto jackets are too edgy for you, try pairing them with more classic items, like skinny jeans and a classic white sneaker–then it will feel a bit more approachable!
With a mini skirt and tall boots:
Sweater (runs TTS, wearing XS! This one and this one are also super similar and so cute!) Similar black mini skirts here, Blondo boots (my exact pair are old but they have similar versions! They run TTS!)
A sweater, mini skirt, and OTK boots are one of my go-to outfit formulas in the winter and the fall. This look is perfect for a night out either on a date or with girlfriends! Super stylish, a little sexy, but still comfortable and warm!
With white jeans and a jean jacket:
Sweater (runs TTS, wearing XS! This one and this one are also super similar and so cute!) White Madewell skinny jeans (TTS)–you guys all rave about the J.Crew Toothpick White Jeans too! J.Crew Jean Jacket (TTS), Halogen heels (TTS) –also styled here!
Wishful thinking here, BUT, it’s going to EVENTUALLY get warmer. This look is perfect for those chilly spring days when it’s warm enough to wear open-toed shoes but you still need a little extra warmth on top! Remember how I said pairing this sweater with black items made it feel more seasonally appropriate. Here, you can see what a big difference just swapping dark jeans for white ones can make! This look feels ALL IN spring, and I’m into it. Also, if it’s too chilly, you can totally swap these super comfy open toed sandals for neutral booties!
That’s it! I hope you loved today’s styling session! What would you like to see next!?
