Hii friends!
Today, I’m doing another styling session on Instagram stories with my friends Natalie and Connie! We haven’t done one in what feels like FOREVER, so I’m excited to be teaming up again today! We also have some newcomers who I think you’ll love, Cori from Dress Corilynn and Thuy from HeyThuy! Make sure to watch out for all our styling videos to go live at 12pm CST–where we’re all sharing our take on how to style white jeans!
Speaking of, I asked you guys on stories yesterday what you’d like me to focus on for a white jeans styling session, and got an OVERWHELMING response for “how to wear white jeans to work” and “how to wear white on white”–so I decided to tackle BOTH today–and style a super versatile white button down with white jeans–8 different ways that totally work in and out of the office!
First, some FAQ’s + Busted Myths about white jeans:
I heard a lot of myths and questions about white jeans from you guys yesterday, so wanted to address a few of these upfront!
“I heard you should buy them one size up so they aren’t tight”
No, you should take some time to find the correct white jeans that flatter your body and order your correct size. Jeans that are one size too big are going to look ill fitting, bunchy, and you’ll have to hike them up all the time, therefore, you’ll probably never wear them because you aren’t confident in them.
“White jeans add 10 pounds to everyone–they’re not flattering”
I think you just haven’t found the right white jeans. Also, what drives me crazy is that we associate “flattering” with “thin”–and we have got to stop thinking that way. Thin does not mean flattering! Women of all sizes can and should feel good rocking a pair of white jeans.
White jeans ARE flattering. The right pair will accentuate your curves and make any outfit look more crisp, polished, and bright! Do you look SKINNIER in white jeans than you do in black jeans? No–of course not, darker colors are always more minimizing if that’s what you’re referring to, but doesn’t mean you don’t look beautiful in them and that you shouldn’t wear them!
“There is no such thing as non see through white jeans”
Yes there are–I’m sharing two pairs with you today. ?They both have great return policies so there is no reason why you shouldn’t try them!
“What underwear are best to wear with white jeans?”
With the right white jeans, it doesn’t matter what color underwear you’re wearing. But if you are still in the market for some invisible underwear, look for a super thin, raw-edge thong that matches your skin tone as closely as possible. These are great and come in multiple shades of nude!
“It’s impossible to keep white jeans clean”
You just need to be more cognizant in general–put your napkin on your lap, don’t sit on dirty benches, etc. Also, wash your jeans immediately if you get something on them. I spot treat with Shout and then soak in Oxyclean–Oxyclean is magic. (FYI I’m trying to switch to cleaner laundry products but have yet to find good clean stain-fighting alternatives!)
Okay! Let’s jump into the outfits, yeah!? For easy reference, you can shop all of the items I used to style these 8 outfits by clicking on the photos below.

First, my top two picks for white jeans:

Madewell White Skinny Jeans:
(Right) Available at Nordstrom and Madewell. (Madewell has extended sizes!) These I found because you guys raved about them so much! I went through SO MANY pairs of see through jeans before these. I can wear these with black underwear even and no see through! They are so soft and have the perfect amount of stretch to hug your curves and they never bag out. Run TTS. Full disclosure I don’t wear skinny jeans that much anymore but according to a poll, the vast majority of you guys are still team skinny jean, so that’s what I chose to style in most of these looks!
Everlane Kick Crop Jeans:
(Left) I’ve been wearing these a TON lately. I love them so much, they’re definitely a really cute more “tomboy” type jean that is still really figure flattering (vs boyfriend jeans a lot of times aren’t super flattering depending on the cut/your body type.) I love the raw hem, which means my shorter girls can just cut theirs to the length of their liking. Don’t dry them in the dryer if you want want the hem to fray too much. These are also not remotely see through!
What to wear them with:
Tops/layers:
Lole linen button down:
I LOVE this linen button down. I have been living in it lately! It’s made by Lolë (yes, the company that makes my fave jackets!) It’s tunic length so you can wear it tucked out for a more casual look (that covers your behind) or tie it at the front for a whole different style! It’s supposed to be oversized FYI–I have an XS. Also, you could totally sub a white oxford in all of these looks as well! Everlane has a similar linen button down for a more budget-friendly alternative!
J.Crew Sophie Sweater Blazer:
I think every girl who works in an office needs this blazer. You’ll wear it all year round–I own it in camel, but if I worked in an office I think I’d own it in every color. Cardigan and blazer, all in one!
Neutral cardigan:
Mine is old but I love this one–perfect transitional cardigan! I love this one from Madewell! This one from American Eagle is super cute too and would give you a similar look!
Jean Jacket:
Duh. The go-to pairing for white jeans. Don’t fight it–they’re meant to be together. Mine I’m wearing here is from J.Crew but I love Everlane’s as well!
Leather jacket:
Mine is from Italy, but Nordstrom probably has the biggest leather jacket selection I’ve seen with the widest price range!
Lole Trench Coat:
I LOVE this trench. I was on the fence about it originally, but I’ve been wearing it nonstop for the past month–it’s the perfect in-between coat. It’s warm but won’t make you hot, it also has a vent in the back so you don’t sweat under it like you do with a lot of trench coats. It also folds up into nothing, so it’s perfect for travel! A wardrobe staple you’ll have forever. It looks super polished while still being really functional.
Shoes + Accessories:
Sam Edelman cap-toe pumps:
Go 1/2 size down in these! They run big! Comfy enough to stand/walk around the office in all day, and they make EVERY outfit look super polished. I can’t recommend these enough. Another item I think every girl should have in her closet!
Everlane Modern Loafers:
Go 1/2 size up in these! I love these Everlane loafers because the modern shape adds a more modern twist to every outfit. They look chicer and more put-together than a lot of loafers–which, if they have a more rounded toe, can look more casual and frumpy with some outfits! These take some breaking in but are comfy once you do.
Tretorn Sneakers:
Unless you’ve been living under a rock or this is your first time here, you know I wear these in almost every blog post. ?Today is no exception. They allow you to rock the white on white look effortlessly, and they are SO COMFY! Also available at Shopbop. Run TTS.
Everlane Tread Sneakers:
Okay, so, I will say the Tretorn sneakers (above) are more versatile–I think these are much harder to pull off with a dress (has to be the right one), vs the Tretorns go with tons of dresses–but these are definitely cooler more fashion-forward shoes, while still being classic looking and vintage-inspired. I think they make any outfit look cooler and they are also insanely comfortable. I honestly can’t choose between these and the Tretorns, they’re just worn differently! Note: If you’re strictly a skinny jeans girl, I think these would look kind of dorky though paired with skinny jeans (granted, I’ve never tried. I don’t wear skinny jeans that much anymore!) so if you wear a lot of straight/cropped jeans, these will be a perfect addition to your wardrobe.
Raffia slides:
I adore these slides that I got at Shopbop (free Prime shipping! Huzzah!) They are going to be a go-to slide for summer. Super comfortable and they go with everything–I love the chic textural elements they bring to every outfit while still being a great, versatile neutral. Run TTS, but if you’re in between you may want to size up. However, keep in mind, they will stretch a tiny bit as they mold to your feet.
Green statement earrings:
From EXPRESS! Who knew!?
