When we moved into our first home together earlier this summer, we were really starting from scratch in pretty much EVERY sense of the word. Sure, we had lived together for a year prior, but our teeny-tiny apartment in the West Loop didn’t really allow for much. When we moved our (miniature?) dining table into the new place, I knew I wanted a rug of some kind underneath the table to really bring the space together, but I kept going back and forth as to what kind of rug I wanted.
Then, a couple months later, we FINALLY pulled the trigger and found an amazing cowhide rug at Randolph Street Market. We knew it was destiny. (Also, the vendor who sold it to us is named El Rug Man, who is just like he sounds–a local Chicago guy who travels around South America and brings back all these incredible rugs! I think I need to inquire if he has any job openings…? #DreamJob.)
If you’re not local and prefer to do your shopping online, that’s okay too! I’ve rounded up some of my very favorite cowhide rugs for any budget below!
What I love about cowhide rugs is that they add an unexpected element of texture and pattern. I love how it ties together the eclectic mix of my vintage dining chairs and traditional farmhouse table. I also love them because they’re gender-neutral–so your significant other can never complain you’re trying to make your space “too girly” 😉 I think we may need another one to layer under Neal’s desk in his office–what do you think?
Which rug is your favorite?
