I was so excited when I was asked to do a collaboration with one of America’s most iconic brands — American Eagle Outfitters! I decided a shoot so fun could only take place in my favorite part of the city — Chinatown. Although the location was risky in the photobomb department (cough…look closely in the background of this photo) and extra windy (lot’s of awkward Marilyn moments) it was my ideal Sunday afternoon. Give me a cute dress, Dim Sum, and a couple coconut buns from Chiu Quon bakery, and I’m a happy camper.
As a teen spending my high school years in Arizona, I grew up in AEO’s teeny-tiny cutoff jean shorts and tanks (evading many a security officer as a repeat offender of the three finger tank strap and shorts must be longer than your finger tips dress code rules). Don’t be fooled though, just like 15-year-old me in my Rocket Dogs and Puka Shell necklaces, American Eagle today has very much grown up. These days, you’ll find incredible gladiator sandals, dangerously adorable crop tops, hippie-chic jumpsuits, and so much more. I want it all.
One of my current favorites is this flirty, floral babydoll dress (c/o). It’s the perfect transitional dress from spring to summer. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bright “in your face” floral print as much as anyone (I’ll show you my latest J.Crew receipt to prove it!) but this subtle pattern is a piece of cake to wear with pretty much anything in your closet. It looks just as great with a few layers as it does all on it’s own. Here I’ve paired it with my favorite Zara trench coat and pastel pink heels to brave the Windy City spring. When the weather warms up (if that ever happens?), it’s going to be the perfect summer beach dress! Every woman needs a versatile piece like this in her closet!
