Bathing suit: Peixoto from Shopbop (and it’s part of the sale!)–they come in a bunch of similar styles in different colors, I almost got black too! The suit runs true to size but when in doubt, go up a size! If my torso were any longer I think it would’ve been too short (Or just buy two sizes to be safe and return one–Shopbop has the best return policy and free shipping!) // Sunglasses: c/o Tuckernuck, which also come in a darker tortoise (similar here for only $18!) // Striped Hat: Old, but similar here, I love this solid navy version with the striped band, and this adorable neutral beach hat // Dainty gold bar necklace: Dana Rebecca
HAPPY MARCH! Wahoo! Spring is on the horizon!
Speaking of [spring break, that is] I realized, I still had one more Mexico post to share with you guys 😛
(I mayyyyy have saved the best for last!)
What are your thoughts on one-piece bathing suits?
I think the key to the flattering one-piece is the deep (but not too wide, so it’s still classy) neckline. I also love both the texture and the navy color of the suit. I was going for black but I fell in love with the classic navy–also, it’s backless, so you don’t have to worry about those pesky tan lines! (The main reason I decided I needed a one-piece!) Side note: Make sure to check out my post on the Shopbop sale that went live yesterday, there are tons of bathing suits included!

It was INSANELY windy that afternoon, but we weren’t going to let that spoil our last few hours before we flew back to frigid, grey Chicago–so we went down to the beach anyway and snagged a cabana.
We hilariously and haphazardly made a wind wall out of the curtains on one side tied to a chair, and covered up with towels to keep from getting too cold, but HELLO we were outside on a beach and it was JANUARY!? Still not complaining. The Modelo was flowing and it was still the best day ever.
We also brought Neal’s Alexa (AKA his Amazon Echo Dot, if you’re getting specific) with us and hooked it up to a portable battery so we had music down by the beach too! (Would definitely recommend this setup if you ever decide to do a beach vacation!)
This was probably the most fun we’ve ever had doing a photo shoot. I’m not really even sure why–I think probably a combination of the fact that it was our last day on vacation, so we were super relaxed, and we also happened to have most of the beach to ourselves, which was a nice change! Since they don’t share a beach with any other resorts, it was pretty common to have the whole beach nearly to yourself, which was pretty cool!
Until the weather heats up again…at least we have these photos to remind us what 80 degrees feels like, right?
