Hii from California! We are in beautiful Del Mar the rest of the week to celebrate our friends Kai and Kevin tying the knot and could not be more excited. I forget how much I miss the West Coast. 😭I’m running on fumes and caffeine after a crazy week of work, but I’m definitely looking forward to taking a little bit of time to relax by the pool this week with my besties! ❤️
I’m excited to be back with another Real Women Approved post–this time, the best phone apps! There were so many you guys suggested that I hadn’t heard of, I hope you love this post as much as I did!
If you’re new here, check out all my Real Women Approved posts here–it’s a series where I crowdsource recommendations from YOU GUYS and compile them all into one post full of great advice from real women! Let’s jump into today’s topic 🙂
Real women approved: The best phone apps for all the #adulting
I am such a huge book nerd, so I was very anti audiobooks for a long time because I’m such a huge fan of actual READING, but I discovered I LOVE listening to anything non-fiction way more than I like reading it! (Especially when the author reads their own book!) So I use Audible for something different than I would, say, my Kindle! I have loved listening to Becoming by Michelle Obama, Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon, and I’m currently listening to I Will Teach You To Be Rich by Ramit Sethi and it is the most life-changing book everyone needs to listen to! You can also get a free audible book credit with my link here! (They are a previous sponsor but I love them to death–they didn’t ask me to put them in this roundup, haha!)
This is the most ANNOYING APP EVER. But it’s also my most valued app of all time. 😂It’s an alarm that won’t go off until you upload a picture of something that is basically on the opposite end of your house. Seriously nothing else will get me out of bed like this thing. If you have trouble getting up on time, this will change your life.
Another app I love to hate–but it’s so helpful for when you REALLY need to focus and put down your phone! Set a timer and it yells at you if you close out of the app. If you make it to the end, your tree grows! Sometimes I’m more motivated by not making my tree die than I am about being productive. 😂
Now, on to YOUR favorites!
Wondering if your fave newsletter’s app is worth upgrading to? Catherine vouched for the download, saying there is so much more content than they share every morning in the newsletter!
BEST BUDGETING/MONEY MANAGING APPS:
“It’s the best budgeting app EVER!” – Marissa
Erin credits the You Need A Budget app for helping her pay off student debt and purchase her condo! How’s that for a winner?!
“I am TERRIBLE at saving money but since I started using Digit I’ve managed to save over $100 in just a few months with this app!” Digit is super simple to use; it takes a small amount of money from your account each day to add to your savings.
“It’s like having an accountant in your pocket!” – Mandy
Meghan says Wunderlist keeps her organized and helps her prioritize her to-do list to GET. THINGS. DONE! 👏
Described as a simple app for bigger problems, Minimalist helps to keep your to-do list simple and organized. A few of you guys recommended Minimalist so I’m definitely going to check it out to help me manage my never-ending to-do list!
“This is like easy $!” – Allie. You sync up your credit/debit card and earn points to use on future purchases with each swipe!
A previous blog sponsor of mine but I think they’re seriously the coolest app so I had to put them in here! (They didn’t ask me to do that, haha!) This is the best app for earning cash back at the places you already shop–Target, Home Depot, The Container Store, Sephora, and more!
Kari raves about how efficient the app is for snagging and hip and amazing place for dinner. I’ve always been an OpenTable girl, but I just learned that Resy will send you a notification if there is a cancellation during a reservation time you’re trying to snag – such an awesome feature!
For my foodies, Katrina says that Infatuation has the best food recommendations ever!
Essential for any wine drinker! Vivino allows you to snap a pic of any wine bottle label and automatically receive a description of the flavor notes and the average price.
For an astrology app that’s easy to interpret for newbies to astrology, Sade recommends Co-Star.
For my fellow book nerds! Jean gets the credit for sharing this app that helps you find new books to add to your to-read list; you can even see what your friends are reading! Some other awesome apps you guys mentioned were Libby (you can check out library books and download to your Kindle for free!) and Overdrive.
For my plant ladies, take Emily’s word for it and download Plant Nanny to track water intake.
Lauren finds the best flight deals on this app!
Allyson says this is the app for Type A travelers! It helps keep you organized on every leg of your trip by storing all of your reservations in one easy-to-use app.
I had to add this one in here! This is the app I partnered with and got to test drive on our trip to Portugal and I cannot TELL you how life-changing it is. Seriously. Everyone should use it! It’s like a travel agent and organization app all in one, and it’s only $5 per day of your trip! Amazing! Read my review of it in my Lisbon guide and my Porto Guide!
These two got suggested a LOT! I am personally a HUGE headspace lover–I use the sleepcasts whenever I can’t quiet my mind and it’s made such a difference! I’ve heard great things about Calm too!
Morgan swears by the Tone It Up app for affordable home workouts.
Lots of you recommended Round as the go-to app to remind you to take your medications & vitamins every day!
A few of you recommended this one–it’s like a personal trainer in your pocket with really good playlists! I’ve used this before as well and it’s so cool!
Jessica says Sweat is the best app to get a workout in at home or in the gym!
An app that helps you build outfits using items already in your closet so you can really get some longevity out of your favorite pieces. It’s like my Capsule Wardrobe Remixes in app form!
PHOTO EDITING APPS:
I hope this was fun and helpful!! Do you have any that you’d add to the list?
