Sweater: c/o Everlane–it’s their cropped cashmere mockneck sweater, which also comes in 13 (yes, thirteen!) colors, and is only $100! They are one of my go-to’s for staple cashmere sweaters, they have so many styles and their prices CANNOT be beat! Pants: Halogen ponte pants (yep, same one’s you saw styled four more ways (including some business casual looks!) right over here!) They run TTS and also come in a charcoal grey (which I think I also need…what do you think? ?) Shopbop also has some good pairs that are more “work” related if “skinny pants” aren’t work approved for you! Loafers: Gucci Brixton Loafers (Neal got them for me for Christmas! Eek! Sam Edelman makes a really amazing dupe pair (I have ’em in leopard print!) that are as comfy as they are cute, though! They actually make a ton of cute loafers–shop them all right here! Lipstick: Givenchy’s “Carmen Escarpin” Hair: Waved with a T3 “Whirl” 1″ wand (buy the base + wand attachment separately!) finished with Oribe Apres Beach Spray
Can you believe it’s Friday?
Toooottallyyy feels like Thursday. (And just when I was getting back into the swing of things from the holidays, too!)
How was your week? Despite starting on a low note (I was sick and therefore got nothing done the first half of the week) mine is thankfully ending on a high note.
I was catching up on one of my favorite podcasts, the Courage & Clarity Podcast (I’ll be doing a whole post on Reader Favorite Podcasts, by the way! Get excited, SO many good ones!) and discovered her method of tackling her to-do list. It is GENIUS. You can get her free download here. It’s helped me SO much. That, paired with an app called “Forest” which essentially locks you out of your phone for a certain amount of time, forcing you to focus–has really saved my week!
So, that was my little productivity tidbit for the day 😉
Neal also gets home from traveling all week tonight, and I’m so excited to see him! As much as it stinks to be apart, I really do think it makes us appreciate one another and what we have so much more! We have a date night planned for Saturday but not sure where to go yet. Thinking somewhere fun downtown–have you tried any cool new spots lately?
Anyway…on to today’s post!
You got a sneak peak of this in the photo from yesterday’s post, but I’m excited to share three really cute outfits that Cassandra and I shot at The Robey over lunch there last week. (It’s so good! Get the avocado toast and fries!)
As you know, this year, I’m aiming to bring you more HELPFUL (not just pretty) content, so I’m showing you how I styled two of my favorite wardrobe staples to create three very different outfits for several different occasions!
The Staples:
The Everlane Cropped Mockneck Sweater:
This is one of my favorite go-to sweaters because it can be dressy or casual depending on what you pair it with. It’s lightweight, so it’s a sweater you can start wearing in the fall and wear well into spring, too! (Trans-seasonal staples are always a win in my book!)

Classic Ponte Pants:
Ohhh snap. They’re back again! Yep, same ones you saw me style in my latest Capsule Wardrobe Remix post. I considered spacing them out because I was worried you’d get sick of them, but honestly, I DO wear them SO much, back to back. It’s real life–what can I say? Ponte pants are the best!
(By the way, some of you have asked how to pronounce them–I say “PONT”–that’s all I’ve ever heard, so I’m hoping it’s correct ? UPDATE: It is NOT correct, haha! Thank you to Alex for pointing this out in the comments, I actually Youtubed it and found a Giluliana Rancic HSN segment where they say “pont-ee” so I feel like that must be right? I’m still probably going to say pont let’s be honest. ?)
You can also sub these out for any pair of jeans, leggings, or work pants that you like! The sky is the limit, you know.
Read on for how to style them!
Coffee Shop Classic:
Here I kept things super simple with just a pair of loafers and no extra frills!
Who said chic had to be complicated? It doesn’t!
Sometimes, I think minimalistic style is the most beautiful–I fully embrace and appreciate the understated beauty in an outfit that is only three pieces! Here I’m wearing the Gucci loafers that Neal got me for Christmas (yes, they are as wonderful as you’ve heard. Even better, honestly. I never dreamed they would be so comfortable!) but Sam Edelman makes a really great dupe that are also insanely comfy!
Chic yet professional:
Blazer: BB Dakota c/o Shopbop–the best most versatile sweater blazer! BB Dakota has the best staples and so many cute jackets/blazers right now–shop more here! ?) Pumps: Sam Edelman. SE makes some of my favorite shoes–they have so many cute classic pumps, too. Shopbop has a HUGE selection, which you can shop here! Lipstick: Givenchy’s “Carmen Escarpin” Hair: Waved with a T3 “Whirl” 1″ wand (buy the base + wand attachment separately!) finished with Oribe Apres Beach Spray Scarf: J.Crew (mine is Paris print but they still have the London print, it’s SO CUTE!)
For a more business casual take on these basics, I added my favorite new blazer–which is really a cross between a blazer and a sweater. I like how it’s a bit less structured than a blazer, and the material is actually felt, which brings another layer of texture to the outfit and adds a lot of interest! You know me, I couldn’t resist a neck scarf for a bit of Parisian flair ? I think neck scarves work especially well with more “office-y” outfits and add a feminine touch and a lot of personality that standard 9-5 outfits often lack.

Rainy Day Outfit:
Trench: London Fog–I am OBSESSED with this rain coat. It has a detachable liner that adds a lot of warmth, as well as a detachable hood! It’s one of my favorite wardrobe staples, and you can’t beat the under $200 price tag! ?) Boots: Blondo “Olivia” boots–they also come in black leather and grey suede, and they’re WATERPROOF! They’re my go-to boots when it’s yucky outside, but I don’t want to wear rain boots! They also come in a shorter knee-high riding boot version. Shop more Blondo boots here! Lipstick: Givenchy’s “Carmen Escarpin” Hair: Waved with a T3 “Whirl” 1″ wand (buy the base + wand attachment separately!) finished with Oribe Apres Beach Spray Beret: Urban Outfitters, comes in so many colors and is such a great steal under $30!
Last but certainly not least–adding some camel into the mix is always one of my favorite go-to’s to make an outfit look instantly more sophisticated. In this instance, it’s in the form of a beret–my favorite new accessory. I usually reach for this on winter days that are a little bit warmer. Surprisingly though, it’s still really warm! Or when I just can’t bear to pull on a beanie AGAIN.
I hope you join me in jumping on the beret bandwagon because now that I have, I can’t be stopped. I want one in every color.
Because last Thursday was unseasonably (and wonderfully) warm, I got away with wearing my TRENCH if you can believe it. It has a removable liner that adds a lot of extra warmth, and it actually is pretty good at blocking the wind, so it was all I needed to stay warm and dry!
Speaking of rainy days and staying dry, Blondo is a boot brand you really need to know about (if you haven’t caught my mention of these waterproof suede boots the other 87569 times on this blog ?) Yes, ALL of their shoes are waterproof, and they make so many cute kinds! Mine I’m wearing here are the “Olivia” pair but they’re selling out quick, so snap ’em up while you can! They’re what I always pull on when I can’t look at another rain or snow boot! (They’re so comfortable, too!)
That’s the other thing I love about these pants. They are polished enough for work, but also look great tucked into boots–which is a pretty rare find, in my opinion!

How would you style these two easy basics?
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I love posts like this! All 3 looks are so cute!

No one pulls off the neck scarf quite like you!
Loving ALL looks, especially the trench + beret!

Just pulled the trigger on these pants. You make them look so cute!
It’s pon-tee actually!
Love these looks, that Everlane sweater has been sitting in my cart all week – after seeing these pics definitely pulling the trigger!
Also, love those boots. I think I’m finally going to order them now that they’re on sale. Would you say they run true to size?
I absolutely love all three of these looks! I’m a huge fan of the blazer and neck scarf in the second look, but I also really like the “French Girl Style” in the third look! Very cute outfits!
