How many times did you hit the snooze button this morning?
I swear it’s the weather! How is one supposed to get up when it feels like negative 5 degrees outside? However, we had a pretty great weekend, cold temperatures considered!
Remember when I told you Pilsen was our new favorite place to hang out? Well, I wasn’t kidding! We went back there on Friday night and had tacos at Taqueria Iguala (a total hole in the wall, literally, but probably the best tacos I’ve ever had) and then went to Punch House for cocktails afterwords. So fun! Then on Saturday we had a much overdue date with Emily, Kelly, and the boys. Sunday we slept in and then got brunch at one of our favorite old school West Loop diners, Palace Grill, and then I hung out with two of my best friends/old roommates to watch the Packers game. All in all, a successful weekend! What did you do?
Now…on to today’s outfit! If we’re being honest here, I did have to layer my puffy coat OVER my camel coat because it was THAT cold when we shot these photos yesterday. However in normal conditions, it’s an outerwear option that can’t be beat. I absolutely love how timeless and chic my camel coat is–and paired with a head to toe black and white ensemble, it’s really just the best. This minimal white turtleneck has also been one I’ve reached for a lot lately and is one of those staples you’ll always be thankful that you have on hand.
Also, have you ever heard of Ponte pants? Because they’re my new thing. Like leggings, but real pants, so you can actually wear them to work and out to dinner without feeling schleppy. They are THE BEST. If you like wearing leggings, I suggest you get yourself a pair ASAP. I’ve worn mine three times in the past week!
Then, there are these rain boots that don’t actually look like rain boots. A great staple if you live somewhere like Chicago, or if you really dislike the look of typical rain boots. And the secret to staying warm: a good hat. (Did you know that most heat escapes through your head? Weird.) Extra credit if it has a pom pom!
Last but not least: aviators. Because sometimes, the reflection of the sun on frozen snow is just slightly blinding. Oh, and also because when there’s a -18 wind chill, my eyes water uncontrollably and smear my eyeliner, making sunglasses a winter photo shoot essential There–now you know all my secrets.
Happy Monday! Let’s make it a good one, yes?
