When the weather (finally) gets warm in Chicago, brunch becomes an essential weekend activity. With so many rooftop restaurants and gorgeous patios, you could say it’s our favorite pastime when the sun comes out.
Every girl, Chicagoan or not, has a go-to brunch style. Some prefer the casual route of their favorite Lulu leggings and their favorite trainers, while others like to get fancy and use it as an excuse to wear the clothes that never see the light of day during the workweek. I’m somewhere in between. Seeing as eating is my #1 hobby, I always like to leave a little extra room in my ensemble if you know what I mean 😉
That’s why I instantly fell in love with this dress–the loose fit leaves plenty of room for a big plate of breakfast tostadas from my favorite spot, Summerhouse Santa Monica, and the lace detailing and bell sleeves make it ultra-feminine and hippie chic at the same time. It’s like wearing a pillowcase to brunch, but is totally socially acceptable. Ding ding ding, winner winner. Plus, the shoes and pop of orange in the purse give it an edgy balance. (P.S. have you noticed why one of my knees is absurdly more tan than the other? Don’t go to three little league games in a row on a Saturday wearing distressed denim with a hole in the knee, that’s all I’m gunna say.)
Also speaking of lot’s of eating–I need you to sit down so I can tell you about this incredible lipstick for a second. It’s actually a lip stain (which I was REALLY honestly scared of until this moment.) It’s not like those sticky terrible flakey 10 hour lipsticks you buy at CVS, this one actually stays put and feels like nothing is on your lips. I can eat an entire meal without it coming off. I’m also weary of brands that I can’t buy at Sephora, but I was feeling daring (and my sweet friend Noelle works for them) so I tried it out, and to my surprise, fell in love and want to order more colors immediately. It’s perfect, really, I hope you try it! I also love their mascara, which I plan to do a review on soon!
Being that brunch style is so unique from one gal to another, Hautelook is launching a whole brunch inspired sale today at 6PM CST, featuring amazing dresses and other brunch-worthy apparel from brands like Orla Kiely, Badgley Mischka, and great accessories (including hats and shoes!) Hurry though, it ends on Tuesday 4/28!
If you’ve never heard of Hautelook, they’re owned by Nordstrom (swoon!) I love them in particular because, like Nordstrom Rack, they offer a great selection of brands I love, but they’re affordable (which always helps a self-employed girl out!) Each morning at 8AM, they release a new sale featuring some major name brands–from apparel, to accessories, beauty, kid’s toys, home decor and more, at up to 75% off. (Plus, they offer free shipping on orders of $100.) Being the lazy person that I am, I often don’t order things online because I hate returning them, but I like Hautelook because you can usually return items to any Nordstrom Rack!
So, in honor of the awesome Ladies Who Brunch sale launching later this afternoon, Hautelook has paired up with a handful of awesome bloggers (I myself, am so honored to be included!) to showcase different brunch styles across the country! (I always love seeing how style varies so much from city to city!) Be sure to check out my friends Juley, Mollie, Jessica, Katie, Nikki, Carley, and Lacey, wearing their most fabulous brunch ensembles. See them all on Hautelook.com here, or click through the graphic below!
Okay, tell me, what’s your brunch style?
