YOU GUYS it’s so cold. WAHH!
Know what’s funny? When you move into a new house in the summer and you don’t know if it’s going to be freezing or warm when winter rolls around?
Remember when I told you about my favorite fur blanket that I walk around under all day like the Revenant? Yeah. Haven’t taken it off yet today. I’m under the blanket, on my fur bean bag, next to the fire. ITS STILL FREEZING.
Did you catch how I slipped in “fur bean bag” in there? Yeah. I have one. And I decided they’re back.
Pottery Barn Teen makes them and I am obsessed. (More to come on that). I got this one last week in the mail and it’s the perfect solution to having to sit on the cold, hard fireplace hearth. Now I can cozy up in a cushy beanbag! Aside from Neal rolling his eyes that “another fake dead animal showed up at our house while he was gone” the furry beanbag has been a welcome addition to the family.
Last night was my Aunt Ann and Cousin Ally’s last night visiting us in Chicago! Neal’s mom and sister came over to meet them and it was so much fun! I made my mom’s “Christmas Eve Soup” (fun fact, I shared it as one of my first ever blog posts here if you want to see some REALLY bad photos and content. HAHA!) Maybeeee I should update that one 😉 We had wine and soup and it was the perfect end to a chilly winter day. (I say chilly because it was freezing in my house. I didn’t even go outside!)
Anyway, speaking of cold. Have you started researching “Christmas Outfit Ideas” yet?
I ask because, you know–experience. I always feel like I’m scrambling for festive attire right before a party or the day before Christmas Eve, and then I have to jump onto Pinterest to search “Christmas Outfit Ideas” and piece together something I already own. (I’m the worst procrastinator.)
This shirt has always been a lifesaver in the winter because it’s the perfect party button-down. I got it last year (but found an identical version by J.Crew), and I’ve worn it so many times around the holidays because of the festive pattern. Button downs are great for any occasion because they look adorable with jeans and boots, or dressed up with a skirt and heels. (This one and this one are both really cute and would perfect for Christmas outfits, too!)
Here, I went with it paired with a black mini skirt (another versatile wardrobe must-have! This one is so cute–it has scallops!), a faux fur scarf (so cozy!) and my favorite lace-up heels. (For how beautiful they are–can you believe they aren’t uncomfortable? I mean, as far as heels go–I’d go as far as to say they’re comfortable! They also come in so many colors!)
If you’re traveling for the holidays, you definitely want to have one in your suitcase, because you can make them work for so many different Christmas events! (I’m actually working on a “holiday packing” post that will be coming later this week!)
Later today I’m heading over to Lincoln Park to shoot a fun post with Kelly, Emma, and Julie, so I’m really excited about that. Then afterwords, its GIRLS NIGHT! It’s been so long since Blair, Kelly, Shaheen found time to get together with the four of us–we’re going to Rangoli (The best Indian food in the city, according to Shaheen, so we’re VERY excited.) It’s also BYOB, so obviously PERFECT for girls night ;-P

You look perfect, I love your gorgeous cuff bracelet! I can’t wait to see your holiday packing list, I’m traveling for a full month, so I’m sure it’ll be super helpful.
I love that top! It’s the perfect casual thing to wear for the holidays. I really like how you styled it 🙂

I’m right there with you on the freezing apartment – I thought I would have learned my lesson from my first apartment with little to no insulation and leaky windows.. now I have an entire exposed brick wall (so pretty!) that is the same wall with three windows (so cold!) Thankful for my flannel sheets and electric blanket!
Such a cute outfit for the holidays! I just got this adorable green and navy plaid shirt dress from Loft that I think is too good to pass up for Christmas eve.
Also, that soup looks delicious and I already bookmarked it to try this weekend!
Happy Tuesday!
xo, Taylor
OMG I know what you mean on the exposed brick, our old place sounds just like yours and it was SO. COLD. Our living room is one wall full of windows so I should’ve known it would be freezing ;-P I also need to check out this adorable green and navy plaid shirt from Loft that you speak of!! I hope you like the soup 🙂 xoxo
I’m obsessed with plaid around the holiday season, but I never thought of pairing a plaid button down with a skirt. It looks so cute! Also I looked up that fur bean bag chair and it is awesome! I love how big it is and perfect for cuddling up by the fire with coffee and a book. I never had a bean bag chair, but I did have an inflatable chair, and I can’t ever see those making a come back. They really aren’t that comfy!
