BIG BIG BIG NEWS!!
Well, three bits of big news really.
Exciting bit #1:
The first one is that EVERLANE AND I EXTENDED OUR PARTNERSHIP AGAIN!!!
I’m so so excited to be able to continue working with them on an ongoing basis. I think we are going to be doing some prettttttyy great things this year together!
Not only are they an incredible, ethical brand who is constantly pushing the envelope in ways to improve the world we live in (like their goal to eliminate virgin plastic from their supply chain by 2021–this Fast Company profile on the subject is a really great read if you’re curious)––but they make quality, versatile, affordable staples that make putting yourself together every day a whole lot easier.
Also, I’m actually heading to San Francisco next week and hoping if schedules synch up, I’ll be able to stop by the Everlane office and even film some cool behind the scenes content! Stay tuned for that!
Exciting bit #2:
They launched their FIRST foray into ACTIVEWEAR today––the “Perform” Legging!
I have to say, the bar for me is set VERY high in terms of leggings. We all have our favorite pairs for different things, right?
For example, I have my “super soft buttery” leggings that I wear around the house (or for travel) and then I have DIFFERENT pairs for working out–because the “buttery” ones aren’t supportive enough–but the “workout” ones aren’t as comfortable to lounge in. The worst part of it is that oftentimes all your leggings have those “athletic” seams on them so the fact that you’re wearing workout pants is a dead giveaway when you try to wear them with REGULAR clothes.
(I fully realize these are first world problems to have.)
You know where I’m going with this, yeah?
These leggings solve ALL THOSE ISSUES. These are the best of both worlds!
They are SO SOFT. They are SUPPORTIVE yet SO COMFY. Also, they don’t have a seam on the outside of the leg OR a logo, therefore, way easier to pull off as, you know, regular pants! Huzzah!
And, last but not least–true to Everlane form, they are made of 58% recycled nylon, and dyed free of chemicals.
(Oh, and LAST LAST–they make your butt look REAAALLLYYY good. Like, even Neal was like, “DAMN. Those are some great leggings!!!” 😂)
Exciting bit #3:
I made an IGTV VLOG!!! (See below!) One of my goals this year is to really dive into IGTV and do more long form video content–I thought the launch of these leggings was the perfect timing!! The video itself is definitely not perfect, but I think you guys will love it and I’m honestly just proud of myself for finally ripping off the band-aid! Lots more to come with IGTV this year and I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments!!
How to style black leggings: 5 Athleisure Outfits to Copy!
I thought the launch of these new wonderful leggings was a great excuse to do a little activewear outfits post. I’m not sure if it’s because it’s January and all the “resolution” talk, but several of you have requested some activewear outfit inspo.
Here’s the thing–I think the term “activewear” can easily be written off if you aren’t typically the “trendy” or “sporty” type. (Ahem…me.) But athleisure can be CLASSIC, too! I’ll show you how. 😉
But first, let’s go over the items I styled in each of these outfits, yes?
Featured Items in this post:
Featured Items in this post:
Everlane Perform Leggings:
The best go anywhere, do anything leggings ever! Truly feel like naked pants (a second skin! Like butter!) but they’re supportive enough for even a HIIT workout. I adore them. They’re made of technical (sweat wicking!) Italian fabric that is comprised of 58% recycled materials!
Sizing: TTS! Wearing Small
Everlane Turtleneck Tee:
You guys know how much I love my turtlenecks and this one does not disappoint! It’s really soft and thin, which is perfect for layering! (Material is just like a normal tee–no stretch! Great for anyone who lives in t-shirts but is always cold. 😜)
Sizing: Runs a little looser. I’m wearing XS and it fits more like a S.
White button down:
A classic white button down is a must-have in every wardrobe! The one I’m wearing here is old, but they just released this one that I’ve got my eye on!
Everlane Cotton Crew:
I love all of Everlane’s tees, and this long-sleeve, box cut pocket tee is no exception. I love that it’s a little cropped, but not too much! (I can still knot it in the front!)
Sizing: Wearing small, true to size.
Everlane ReCotton Henley:
Everlane ReNew Fleece:
I have this fleece in two colors I love it so much (this pretty oat color and navy!) I love how cozy and chic this fleece is! Also, fun fact: It’s made of 100% recycled material made of 32 plastic water bottles! It’s great for layering items underneath or adding extra warmth under a coat!
Sizing: TTS- I’m wearing small here.
Everlane Cashmere Crew Sweater:
The price point/quality of Everlane’s cashmere sweaters cannot be topped! This is the perfect cashmere sweater and comes in tons of colors — although this camel color ALWAYS sells out fast in the winter, so grab it while you can!
Sizing: True to size, I’m wearing a small
Everlane Denim Jacket:
A classic denim jacket, with an oversized fit to make it a little tomboyish and on-trend. I also love the light wash color! I wear this guy year-round with pretty much everything!
Sizing:TTS (It’s a boxy fit- wearing a small)
Everlane ReNew Channeled Liner:
Great as a jacket all on its own, but even better to layer underneath your coats to add extra warmth when you just can’t bring yourself to wear a puffer AGAIN. (I styled it here under my cocoon coat!)
Sizing: Runs HUGE! I’m wearing XS and still could’ve gone down one size.
Everlane Cocoon Coat:
I love the look of this coat, but especially the cut of it because it’s so easy to wear layers under it! The cocoon shape accommodates several layers without feeling tight or bulky!
Everlane Tread Sneakers:
Everlane Wool-Cashmere Blanket Scarf:
Part scarf, part blanket––100% adorable!! (Comes in other colors too, but I am partial to this beautiful Cider hue!) This piece is perfect for travel and a great option to keep draped over your chair at the office––it keeps you warm and chic at the same time! I love wearing it as a wrap or a scarf!
Everlane Form Bag:
The most versatile bag ever! The strap on this bag adjusts so you can wear it as a shoulder tote, long messenger bag, or cross-body! It has a magnetic closure at the top for easy access and it’s big enough to fit your laptop as well! Also comes in black and a pretty dark green color!
Now, let's jump into the outfits!
Now, let's jump into the outfits!
All of these outfits are designed to be easy to throw on after morning yoga (no need to go home and change before brunch!) or let’s be honest–– when you were NEVER planning to work out in the first place, but you still want to look comfy and cute.
Hit “play” below to watch my IGTV vlog reviewing them AND a video of how I styled each outfit!
Not a video person? That’s okay, regular blog post below too. 😉

Something I’ve been wanting to launch for a long time—IGTV Vlogs!! I thought Everlane’s new LEGGING launch was a great excuse to warrant my first vlog attempt (😜) See my review and how I styled them 5 ways to go from yoga to brunch to the airport to lounging and everything in between! Note: Everlane did sponsor today’s blog post but they didn’t sponsor this video—I just love them that much! 😂 LINKS: Leggings: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcT5d Turtleneck tee: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcT6Y White button down: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcVeM Striped pocket tee: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUsq Henley: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUry Fleece Sweatshirt: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUpx Cashmere turtleneck: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUrp Denim jacket: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUqM Liner jacket: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUoS Camel Cocoon coat: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUo2 Sneakers: https://shopstyle.it/l/bbE1r Blanket scarf: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUou Bag: https://shopstyle.it/l/bcUq6
Everlane Perform Leggings (Run TTS-I wear size small), Everlane Tread Sneakers (TTS), Everlane Denim Jacket (TTS but supposed to be a boxy fit! Wearing small) Everlane Turtleneck Tee (Run TTS–wearing small!), Everlane Wool-Cashmere Blanket Scarf, Everlane Form Bag
Alright alright I know the name of the game is “athleisure” here today, but this is an example of my ideal TRAVEL outfit. (So the “ath” part is kind of…you know, non applicable.) But it’s the perfect amount of layers––not too hot, not too chilly, comfy–yet fashionable. Perfecto!
Everlane Perform Leggings–Run TTS (I wear size small), Everlane Tread Sneakers (TTS), Everlane ReNew Fleece– (Runs TTS but boxier fit. I’m wearing small but on the fence about if I should’ve sized up to Medium!) Everlane Wool-Cashmere Blanket Scarf, Everlane Form Bag
I’m not typically a sweatshirt kinda gal, but I LOVE Everlane’s crewneck sweatshirts–especially the ReNew fleece one! It’s nubby texture makes every outfit more interesting–I actually have it in both this color and navy, and wear both all the time! Wrap a blanket scarf around your neck for the perfect low-key statement. (And warmth. Of course, all the warmth. We need that in the Midwest right now. 😳)
If you read last week’s blog post where I shared “10 Wardrobe Rut Hacks to Make Any Outfit More Interesting” you’ll remember I’m a big fan of layering jackets under coats. (I do this with jean jackets all the time!) Well–if you are sick and tired of your puffer, but you still need a bit more warmth than your pretty wool coat can provide–let me introduce you to the LINER jacket. It’s cute and toasty on its own, but the magic really happens when you layer it under your pretty coats. Lots of warmth–none of the bulk! Plus, it’s a great transitional jacket all by itself! With this look, I made sure to go with a striped tee to add a pop of pattern to this neutral outfit–it made it much more interesting!
Do you know what I’m going to say? 🤓
THE JUXTAPOSITION RULE WINS AGAIN. It’s certainly at play here! Tying a classic sweater around your neck with an outfit of great basics is the perfect shot of preppiness to elevate your look and make it look intentional. (I actually got this idea from one of the models on Everlane’s website! Haha!) This makes another great post-yoga outfit, but also a great travel outfit, or can be ideal for a movie, lazy wine night at a girlfriends––whatever!
Last but not least––a classic twist on athleisure––is there anything a basic white button-down doesn’t look good with!? (The one I’m wearing here is Everlane from several years back! This one is very similar though!) For a more casual, still polished but unfussy take, I tied it in the front, and threw a jean jacket over the top! A great comfy outfit for any weekend occasion.
I hope this helped inspire you to put a new twist on your athleisure looks, and if you decide to buy these new leggings, I think you’ll love ’em as much as I do!!
Huge thanks to Everlane, one of my very favorite partners, for your ongoing sponsorship and partnership. It means the world! And thank you to my readers for supporting me and the brands I love so much!
