Know what’s funny? I’ve always loved flowers, especially blooms in soft, neutral tones. (Peonies and Hydrangeas! I die!) Whites, pinks, creams–gimme all of ’em!
But when I got engaged, my stomach churned at the idea of shelling out thousands of dollars for flowers that are going to get tossed after just one day! I mean, that’s not only financially ridiculous, but also just plain sad.
Then I had lunch with my friend Meg (you’ve seen me wear her bracelets–she’s the designer behind BusyWrist! You should totally stalk her wedding here) and she told me that in fact–she barely had any flowers at her wedding! Aside from the bridal party bouquets–it was all greenery.
GENIUS.
Of course, I turned to Pinterest, and of course, I found all the inspiration I was looking for. Here’s what I’m envisioning for our tablescapes. The simpler, the better. I’m envisioning greenery, candles, beautiful glassware, and that’s about it!
Thoughts?
What do you think? Would you ever forego flowers at your wedding?

I actually love this idea! It looks just as gorgeous as flowers for a fraction of the price!

Gorgeous! It’s a very classic styling. You’ll never look back at those pictures and think “gosh, why did I pick those color flowers!”
That being said, Ryan and I are having flower center pieces, but we’ve decided to donate any leftover centerpieces that family members don’t take to a local nursing home the next day. Hopefully we can share some of our happiness with them!
This is really pretty! I felt the same way about spending so much money on flowers that would only be used for one day. So we decided to go with dried flowers. We used a lot of yellows and oranges, which was perfect for our fall, somewhat rustic wedding. The biggest selling factor for us using dried flowers is that they will last forever. We use my wedding bouquet as a center piece on our dining room table. Etsy is the perfect place to find dried flower bouquets for an amazing price! Happy planning!

I would totally embrace greenery! Maybe incorporate some flowers, but greenery can be the bulk of your live decorations. This might be a good article to check out for inspiration http://junebugweddings.com/wedding-blog/naturally-incorporate-succulents-wedding-decor/
I love this Jess! It’s so natural and organic and I LOVE green! We had a fair amount of greenery in our bouquets and I absolutely loved how natural it made them look 🙂
I am so in love with this look. I did just straight up greens for my bouquets and decors, accented with gold and neutrals. So pretty, especially for an outdoor wedding! http://www.chasingbelle.com
I had a runner down my head table with greenery and white and peach roses. It was my favorite part of my wedding! I also had succulents in my bouquet which looked amazing in photos and saved some costs 🙂 I say, go for it!

What kind of greenery did you use? I want to use greenery for all my tables but don’t know the names.
So gorgeous! I had the same stomach churning moment with flowers. Instead we’re doing single blooms in little bunches of vases placed on tables. My flower budget has stayed small and I’m so happy about it!
Update since my wedding! My florist also did these gorgeous garlands of seeded eucalyptus. She sprayed some of them gold because that was one of our colors and it was fabulous and smelled so good!
I love your linen color! I am doing the garland as well and saving so much! Can I ask what linens you used. Thank you!
