GG Reader Dogs, Vol. 1

I would like to present to you…

THE BEST BLOG POST IDEA I’VE EVER HAD.

If you missed it on Instagram stories last week, it all started with reader (and insta friend) Hannah, who sent me photos of her cute new puppy (below!) and I was so touched that she knew that it would brighten my morning. ?

GG Reader Dogs, Vol. 1

Then a bunch of you started sending me dog pictures and I was like WAIT. LET’S TURN THIS INTO A BLOG POST! So I asked you to submit your dog photos and captions––I received over 100 responses! ??

Thus, we’ll be turning this into an ongoing series ?Here is the first round–in the order that they were received. ENJOY!

So, without further delay, I present to you, our first round of GG READER DOGS! ?? I hope this brightens your day as much as it brightened mine! ENJOY!

Biden, Philadelphia

Biden, Philadelphia

Meet Biden, named after former Vice President Joe Biden for his white hair and because he’s always smiling!

Like the former VP, he’s sometimes inappropriate, like when we have guests over and Biden drops to the floor to lick his undercarriage. Biden is a dog of the people, as he was found wandering the streets of Philadelphia, waiting to spread love to a lucky family. He has some famous tricks, including dancing, playing dead, clapping his paws, and making chicken disappear. Most people who rescue dogs save the dog, but in our case, Biden saved us!

Murray from Pittsburg

Murray from Pittsburg

This is Murray. He’s two now, but was just a tiny pup in this pic and it’s one of my favorites!

We recently moved to Chicago from Pittsburgh and while the El train noises are a little scary, he loves the dog beach more than anything in the world! Murray has grown into a gentle giant full of snuggles and kisses. I always call him an angel because I can’t understand how he can always be SO SWEET. Nothing makes him happier than retrieving the free newspapers outside the door and greeting humans while sitting up like them! Would I be a real dog mom if I didn’t make him an insta?!

Lulu from New Mexico

Lulu from New MexicoThis is my miniature schnauzer, Lulu, or as I like to call her “The Lulu” bc she is just that important ?

She is the SASSIEST little dog! We currently live in New Mexico on a small farm, but Lulu is a well traveled dog. I was in the Navy until just recently, and Lulu lived with me in San Diego and on the island of Crete in Greece for two years each place. She’s been to lots of states in the US, but more impressively has marked her territory (on layovers…) in Switzerland, Spain, and Italy.

Tasha and Theodore from Texas

Tasha and Theodore from Texas

Our names are Tasha Marie (left) & Theodore Eric (right). We happily live in Texas with our mama, Brittany. Also, we both had a very rough start to life, but we were rescued by Texas Husky Rescue & have been livin’ the sweet life ever since! We hope you have a pawsitively wonderful day! Woof!

Milly from Mendota, IL

Milly from Mendota, IL

Say hello to Milly! Mendota, IL, a small town 100 miles west of Chicago, is the place she calls her forever home. She’s a two year old yellow lab/beagle mix and was adopted from The Labrador Connection this past summer. She loves to take long naps on the couch and always greets her humans at the door with a sock in her mouth. She’s playful, loving, and is a great (and adorable) addition to our family!

Rudy from Cincinnati

Rudy from Cincinnati

This is Rudy (King Rudolph)! He is a rescue pup that Ive been lucky enough to have for more than 5 years. He was very timid and skinny when we first met (you could see all his ribs), but now he is a giant baby full of personality! We live in Cincinnati and he is the best. I work remotely both for my day job and blog and Rudy works with me every day as my supervisor 😉 he often snoozes on the job, but he is also a director at an executive search firm and a blogger by night! He loves blueberries, ear rubs, squeaky toys & tennis balls.

Tex from Charlotte

Tex from Charlotte

This is Tex! He is a chocolate lab mix and was Hurricane Harvey rescue that my husband and I adopted when he was about 6 months old. He’s about 1.5 years now and doing great! We lived in Austin when we adopted him but just moved to Charlotte, NC this month. He is the absolute sweetest dog who loves ice cubes, popcorn, and peanut butter like no other. I’ve been baking homemade bagels for awhile and my mother-in-law mailed some dog peanut butter bagels so he could join in too! He also loves to greet every dog and human by licking them straight in the face. Fun fact (that’s slightly embarrassing), we have a “voice” for him which I know some other dog owners do too but ours is a lisp. ? I wish I could send an example but that would be even more embarrassing.

Marty McFly, Portland OR

Marty McFly, Portland OR

Here is Marty in his dapper sweater knit by his grandmother ? He’s approx. 5 years old and was found as a stray in California and brought to Portland to be adopted. CA has more high kill shelters, so a lot of rescues come up from there! He’s likely a chihuahua/terrier mix but I don’t know for sure. He’s the best!!

Brizo the Husky

Brizo the Husky

Hey there, GG readers! I’m here because my mom loves Jess’ blog and thinks I’m probably cute enough to be featured on it. [Jess note:???]

My name is Brizo and I am a 6 year-old Husky with a penchant for carbs and a missing tooth. I love absolutely everybody and have never met a stranger. My hobbies include taking 10-12 naps per day, sitting in front of the window to look out over my kingdom, and pawing at my parents repeatedly if they aren’t paying attention to me.

Fun fact about me:
I’m quite the escape artist! Despite not being a tiny dog, I’m quite skilled at working my way through small spaces. When I was a puppy I would slip out of my kennel during the day while my parents were at work. One day I became bored waiting for them to come home, so I took it upon myself to eat through a box spring mattress. Yep, you read that right—I chewed my way through the stuffing and when mom and dad got home they found me INSIDE the box spring.

My dad is in the military so we move every couple of years. The last time we moved (to our current home) I managed to escape from our hotel room! Mom and dad had left me there while they went to grab some food (or so they say—I never know what they’re really doing when they leave me behind and it makes me so sad) and I decided to go on a little adventure.

I figured out how to jump up hit the door handle with my paw and the door sprang open! I wandered down to the hotel lobby where a very nice maintenance man played with me and fed me crackers (CARBS!) until mom and dad came back. So, that’s me in a nutshell. I keep my parents on their toes and leave fur all over everything, but they love me and can’t imagine a life without me in it!

Pippen and Payton from Manhattan Beach, California

Pippen and Payton from Manhattan Beach, California

Meet Pippen (cream) and Payton (black) and from Manhattan Beach, California! Even though they are living the beach life now, they didn’t have the best beginnings. Pippen was found in a high-kill shelter after being abused. Over the last three years, she’s helped us foster over 60 dogs.

In November, we started fostering baby Payton after he was found running the streets of Fresno alone. He was brought to our rescue, Wags and Walks, in Los Angeles, and we couldn’t say goodbye! We decided to foster fail again and keep him forever. Pippen is confused why he keeps getting bigger, but they are the best friends! They have an Instagram too! @pippen.and.payton  ️

Chili & Bento

Chili & Bento

These are our two rescue pups, Chili & Bento. Bento is the one with the pointy ears!! Those ears are (literally) the reason we adopted him. Here we were, minding our own business, quite happy with just one dog, when the rescue (shoutout Trio Animal Foundation) posted a picture of Bento on Facebook. I fell in love and jokingly tagged my husband in a comment saying, “should we get him?” … and then oops! we did! He brings so much joy but also so much terror into our lives.

For example, he once opened every single Christmas present under our tree while we were at work. He also loves tearing up our FLOR carpet squares. SO CUTE!

Chili is a GD angel who literally just wants to sleep and snuggle, only taking breaks to eat. She’d be quite happy to never go outside. We love them so much!

Parker from Chicago

Parker from Chicago

This is Parker. She’s named after Wicker Park in Chicago. She enjoys chasing her cat brother, Pauli (short for Paulina Street in Wicker). Also, she likes sitting on ottomans to block the TV. She hates wearing sweaters when her hair is long… actually she hates sweaters all the time…

Max from Phoenix

Max from Phoenix

Let me introduce my 100lb lab, Max. He most recently ate an entire Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree (RIP Newton). He has also eaten a fitbit, a month’s worth of birth control pills and a whole bag of jumbo marshmallows without any guilt. I wouldn’t trade him for the world… most of the time. He’s my BFF and currently serves as my half marathon training partner!

Stay tuned for the next round of GG Reader Dogs Vol. 2 coming soon! ?Thank you to everyone who submitted! New submissions are currently closed as we have a lot to get through, but I’ll be sure to let you guys know when they open back up again!  Happy Tuesday!
