We’re back with another gift guide!
Today is one I’m VERY excited about–because I asked you guys on Instagram what the best gifts YOU’VE ever received are–and you gave so many good answers–I had to round ’em all up in a post!
I was also happy to see some of my personal favorites make the list (hello Cuyana gift bags, Vital Proteins, and Eataly cooking classes!) I’m not only sharing your top rated ITEMS, but also your best suggestions for EXPERIENCES as well!
No matter who you’re shopping for (especially if it’s the person who already has EVERYTHING)–I have a feeling you’re going to find some great ideas here! (Note–if your instagram handle doesn’t contain your first name, I just used the first initial of your handle ?)
Reader favorite gifts: Items
Monogrammed Cuyana toiletry bags: “My favorite gift! So good for someone who loves tot ravel and has a lot of stuff that must travel with them!” –Stef (Jess’ note: I wholeheartedly agree. I LOVE my Cuyana toiletry bags!)
Portable charger: “Hands down the best purchase I’ve made and I’ve probably given 10 as gifts and people still thank me for it! They come in a bunch of different sizes and are perfect to just pop in your purse. Best gift for anyone super busy and always on the go! The thing is an actual life saver!” –C
Bodum Latte Mugs: “These keep your drinks warm and look great! My husband gave them to me one year when his work schedule was crazy and we barely saw each other except for Sunday mornings when we made coffee and listened to records together”–C
Weighted blanket: “So cozy I never want to get out from under it and I sleep like the dead with it!” –Hanna
Vital Proteins: “I know you love them too–but I love Vital Proteins and put it in my coffee every morning! I always ask for it for Christmas (because I always want to try so many of their products, they add up quickly!) My family also doesn’t feel bad splurging on something healthy for me instead of clothes I don’t need ?” –Susan (Jess’ note: I get so many questions about collagen supplements and I did a whole post reviewing Vital Proteins right here! I love them! They also have a holiday sampler gift set that makes the BEST stocking stuffer for only $16!)
Portable speakers: “My husband bought me this Bose bluetooth speaker which I never knew I needed and now we use it EVERYDAY! We bring it on vacations, the beach, even if a rental car has a crappy sound system! Cannot recommend highly enough and the battery lasts so long!” (Jess’ note: UE also makes AMAZING speakers that are also waterproof. We have one that is our go-to! This little one is only $99–and I found this one that’s only $29 with great reviews!)
Mark and Graham tech tool roll up: “My boss got me this and I LOVE it! I loathe loose objects in my bags so having a high quality dedicated pouch to stick my computer cord, phone charger, an dear buds is the best. It sooths my slightly OCD soul and it’s light pink so it matches my laptop case and office decor!”
Dyson hair dryer: “Cuts dry time, better for hair, quieter for annoyed husband who is still in bed when I get ready. (He bought this for me out of self interest ?)” –Kat (Jess’ note: If you get it at Nordstrom, you get it along with an Ouai product set for the same price!)
Electric tea kettle: “I have a practical answer, haha! I use my electric tea kettle that my husband got me for Christmas ALL the time! For tea, hot chocolate, oatmeal, etc!” –Ash (Jess’ note–they have a bunch on Amazon at different price points. To make it even better, you could gift some really nice tea to go with it! (I am OBSESSED with Aveda’s “thé” tea–it’s like a spa experience in a cup–or Vital Proteins Matcha is also another one of my faves!)
Apple Airpods: These are life changing. They revolutionized my work outs and phone calls. When I recently was on a flight, I seamlessly siwtched between spotify and my phone and movie on my iPad. Phone calls are so easy since you don’ tneed your phone on you and the cord doesn’t get tangled. I can’t tell you how great a gift they are!” –Callie
Towel warmer: “The absolute best gift I’ve ever received, from my best girlfriend! It was like, the best upgrade ever to the classic, “hey you deserve a spa night, heres a face mask” gift. You truly never think you need a towel warmer until you have a towel warmer. I’ll never go without it again. I toss my robe in the bottom and towel on top before I shower and my the time I’m out, they’re nice and toasty! Might seem like a weird gift, but it’s so unique and thoughtful, and such a great “little luxury” gift that you know someone won’t think of and def won’t buy themselves! You can even put blankets or mittens in it!” –Victoria
A Roomba: “I know this sounds ridiculous, but our Roomba is one of our FAV gifts we’ve ever gotten. (We have this one but I wish we had this new one!) Whether you have pets, kids, or none of the above, nobody likes vacuuming and everyone wishes their floors were cleaner! This is such a splurge but worth every penny. There are way cheaper models but friends who have them don’t love theirs as much as we love ours–so I think the higher end features are worth it!
I can control it from my phone, schedule cleaning in advance, shows me a map of where it cleaned (SO COOL) and the bin is really big–it cleans my whole 1st floor (2K square feet) without needing to be emptied.” –Darcy (Jess’ note: I know the Roomba is a huge splurge, but this version has a ton of great reviews and is under $200!)
Even more ideas: (Here are some I’m personally adding!)

Scotch infused toothpicks: For the man who is impossible to buy for.
An ice roller: For any tired woman who has ever been in need of a de-puffing, zen-like pick-me up. (So, every woman.) Also it’s less than $14.
Headspace gift card: My favorite meditation app–the gift that seriously helps improve anyone’s life on a daily basis!
Uber gift card: I mean–who doesn’t want free ubers!?
This year Neal and I are ditching traditional gifts and splurging on a Mexico getaway!
Reader favorite gifts: Experiences:
Eataly cooking classes: “For those that live near an Eataly (or are planning to travel to a city where one is) I highly recommend buying someone/couple/group a cooking class! My mom, grandma, and I did the hands-on mozzarella making class together and it was so awesome and fun–an out of the box experience. They even cook you an amazing dinner at the end and it includes like 6 very generous wine pairings! We have now even made mozzarella for family dinners! I actually also got this for my cousin and her husband as a wedding gift and they loved it! You can either pick a day and sign them up of just buy a gift card to Eataly and let them know what it’s intended for!” –Ciara
Gospel Brunch at House of Blues: “This occurs twice every Sunday and features a delicious breakfast buffet and incredible performances from a local gospel choir. You definitely do not have to be religious to enjoy it–it’s so much fun! They have quite a few House of Blues locations as well!” –Emily
Donations in their name: “As this is a season for giving, it really leaves me feeling good, and this way if someone doesn’t know what to get me, they’re not just getting me something for the sake of getting me something, you know?” –Elizabeth
National Park Annual Pass: “Definitely for the outdoorsy person, but it’s only $80 and you can use it for admission to any national park, monument, or any national site! My dad has been getting it for me every year. My hubby and I get to create many memories at all the parks. Plus, you save sooo much money! Entrance into Yosemite is up to $40 so you go to a couple parks and it’s paid for!” –Kristen
Steppanwolf RED Card: Very Chicago specific, but I was gifted one last year–valid for anyone 29 and under, gets you access to 6 tickets and all sorts of cool events there. I loved it!” –Liz
New York Times Sunday subscription: “Last year my parents gifted me a Sunday subscription to the New York times! I think of them every week when I grab it from my stoop and spend all Sunday morning drinking coffee and reading. I love it so much I just asked them to renew it this year!”–D (Idea–gift this along with a Yeti mug to keep their coffee piping hot, or the coziest ever bathrobe (love this one for girls, and this one for guys!) while they read the paper every Sunday!)
Flight lessons: “My parents really got a gold medal for Christmas one year when I was younger. They got me a FLIGHT LESSON! It was an amazing experience, I loved it. It wasn’t wildly expensive for a first lesson. Super fantastic gift. Could be great for a tough to buy for guy who has everything. Or an adventurous gal with a wild side!”–S
More experience gift ideas (from me!):
Photography masterclass from Annie Leibovitz:Have you heard of Masterclass? It’s this website that features masterclasses in all different subjects from true experts–the Annie Leibovitz class would be my top choice, but there’s also comedy with Steve Martin, Basketball skills with Steph Curry, and so many more!
Rock climbing: For the active person, gift them a pass to a local rock climbing gym. (Like Brooklyn Boulders, in Chicago!)
A legit wine club: For wine lovers (or those who want to get more into wine) give them the experience of a Winstyr subscription–which includes four shipments of small-batch wines not available anywhere else!
Museum pass: For someone who loves museums, a pass so they can go anytime they want! (Great gifts for parents for Children’s museums too!)
A warm getaway: Do what Neal and I are doing this year–skipping the expensive presents and putting our money toward a January getaway! We’re heading to Mexico and staying at Unico and we could not be more excited! I would highly recommend checking out Expedia’s “Deals” page–where you can book an all-inclusive trip (airfare + hotel) for an amazing deal!
