Sandals: c/o Sole Society (also come in a lighter tan color and black.) I also love love these strappy nude heeled sandals and these nude laser-cut heels! // Dress (under $100!): Shopbop–comes in NINE colors–my other favorites are the cobalt blue, pink, and this punchy red color. I also love this red wrap maxi, on sale for $107, and this floral version, too! This dusty rose colored slip-maxi would also be perfect for vacation. // Necklace: c/o Kendra Scott // Cuff bracelet: c/o Kendra Scott // Lipstick: MAC Lady Danger (by the way I just picked up their new hydrating lip scrub–it is a lifesaver! Especially on dry vacation lips!)
Are you as excited for the weekend as I am?
Our friends Lisi and Jac are getting married this weekend, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate them!
I’ve never been to a winter wedding–it’s so nice to have something to look forward to in the dead of January! Luckily, the weather is on their side–it’s supposed to be in the 50’s! I’m wearing this red lacy midi number that I posted on Instagram a couple days back. I can’t wait. It’s black tie optional so Mr. Loftus is going to get all dappered up [definitely not a word.] in his tux. I’ll make sure to post a few instagram stories!
Despite the fact that it’s been uncharacteristically less freezing than usual, it’s still been super grey and dreary the past couple of weeks, so having these posts from Mexico to look back on really help to get through the less-than-stellar weather 😉
(I hope you feel the same? Do you?)
So, you’ll recognize this maxi and these shoes from my “What I’m Packing for Mexico” blog post a couple weeks back. I couldn’t have been happier with both of these purchases–they were made for a tropical vacation!
I had never been to an all-inclusive resort before (unless you count that one college spring break in Acapulco. That hardly qualified as a “resort”) so I really didn’t know what to expect or what to bring in terms of footwear. At many all-inclusive resorts, the restaurants have a dress code that doesn’t allow flip flops and asks that ladies and gents wear more upscale attire.
Well, me being you know, me–adamant about carrying-on because I can’t stand to wait for baggage–I was hell-bent on getting away with minimal pairs of shoes. This pair from Sole Society turned out to be the BEST decision.
They’re super easy to dress down for the pool during the day, or dress up at night! I also like that they have a low heel, so they were comfy walking all around our resort! Plus, the lace-up detail is really fun and apparently what the cool kids are wearing these days.
They’re a great neutral color, so they go with absolutely everything from black to navy to, ahem, marigold? (What would you call the color of this dress? Marigold, yes?)
Speaking of, this dress comes in nine. Yeah, NINE. Different colors. It’s super lightweight and breezy and I didn’t know it at the time I purchased it, but I was REALLY thankful for its maxi length!
I wore it to the Golden Globes viewing party at our resort, Secrets Playa Mujeres (more about that here!) and it was CRAZY windy that night! (Note my crazy hair in every photo. At least I’d already been planning on wearing it up :-P)
We shot these photos by the main pool (how gorgeous is it?) on the way to the party, and it was honestly almost completely dark, but this new camera I got is absolutely magical. (I took the plunge in December and got the Canon 6D and the 35mm f/1.4 lens, by the way, if you’re wondering!)
The only thing missing in this outfit was this adorable beachy bag! Unfortunately I ordered it on too short notice and it didn’t arrive until I got home! Don’t worry, there’s a post featuring it coming soon. I’ll be sharing my vacation beach bag essentials–stay tuned!
