Okay, I have a question to ask. Be honest.
Well, wait. First, some background.
My friend Meg was over a few weeks ago and we were standing in my guest bedroom talking about the various ways I could decorate it, and we started talking about decor, you know, yada yada yada. She mentioned in passing that my interior style had a bit of “boho” in it, and I thought–wow, that is so weird, because I would never describe my personal style–aka–my clothing, as “boho.” I can probably rattle off 3 things total off the top of my head that might even qualify as “boho” in my wardrobe. In my mind, I typically steer toward the classics that are on the feminine side.
But my interior style? Totally different! Moroccan rugs, southwestern flair, funky woven baskets–I love it all.
So, this brings me back to my question:
Do you think it’s weird to have decor and personal style that are so different?
Like, how does that work exactly? I think perhaps where they intersect for me is the inspiration I draw from other eras–I’m always drawn to vintage furniture, rugs, and mixing the old with the new, and I suppose that rings true for my wardrobe, too!
Exhibit A, I realized, is today’s outfit!
Red lips: It’s no secret that I love a classic red lip! I love how this color has an orangey undertone. This lipstick is by Estee Lauder, and it’s kind of like a super long-lasting lacquer that is build-able! They have a lot of pretty colors–this one is called “Burn.”
Leather jacket: This wins #1 MVP of my wardrobe. I wear this jacket with everything, everywhere! I got mine while studying abroad in Italy (if you’re ever in Florence, go to Massimo leather!) but this one and this one are similar!
Dark, high-waisted skinnies: I’m a broken record, I know, but a girl only needs a few great pairs of jeans, and these J.Brand Maria jeans are the most flattering pair that I own! They come in tons of different washes too. If you haven’t jumped on the high-waisted train yet–you should try them out, they make your legs look 100x longer than any other jeans!
OTS top with bell sleeves: I love loveee this off the shoulder top by BB Dakota! (It also comes in red!) It’s so nicely gathered at the top, and ties in a bow in the front. Its the prettiest navy color and my favorite part is the bell sleeves that have a little hippy flair to them!
Woven tassel earrings: This pair by Tuckernuck is one of my favorite go-tos–they recently came out with their own line of earrings and they are SO cute!
These sandals: Chunky low heels are so trendy right now–which is REALLY lucky for us, because they are so much more comfortable than regular high heels! The pair I’m wearing here is on sale at Nordstrom for just $55 and they have so many colors in stock!
