Dress: Lush (only $39! It comes in blush and olive, too! It is SO comfy!)–for length reference, I’m 5’6 and am wearing a size small. Also IT HAS POCKETS! EEK! I’m also in love with this crepe t-shirt dress from the same brand. Camo jacket: super old, but love this one that is nearly identical. If camo isn’t your thing, I also really love this quilted military jacket from Madewell. Sneakers: Jack Purcell. Also, have you seen these new all white Converse with the rose gold rivets?! Make sure to order some Scotchgard spray to keep them from getting dirty! Tote bag: Madewell Transport Tote–comes in lot’s of colors and sizes, too! I can’t say enough good things about their leather bags. Sunnies: sold out, but love this similar pair
So, it would be an understatement to say I’m overwhelmed by the positive response of yesterday’s post. I was honestly so apprehensive about posting it. Honestly I was really biting my lip when I got up this morning and saw the comments had started to roll in. (I was up until 2am fine-tuning it, so I slept in, haha!)
I know I’ve mentioned this before, but I am so, so lucky to have you guys. Needless to say, it’s been a bit of a heavy week, but it’s such an overwhelming (in a good way) feeling to know that we have built this community together and that we can all link virtual arms and work side by side to evoke change accomplish something really important. Thank you.
Jumping back into regular programming–a couple other things that happened this week…
I got the new iPhone! I had been scraping by with an iPhone 6 for FAR too long, and I went for the iPhone 8 plus. The camera, you guys, is AMAZINGGGG. I’ve received some questions about it on Instagram stories and it’s important to note that the regular 8 does not have the stellar camera that the 8 plus does, so I’d really recommend going for that one if the camera is important to you. Also, I thought the giant gameboy size would bother me, but it really hasn’t been a huge adjustment! It’s also amazingly fast! Yay–great things.
I’ve been on a kiwi fruit kick. I don’t know what irked me to purchase kiwi at the grocery store but I forgot how good it was. Did you know you can just slice them in half and them eat them with a spoon? You just scoop it out! Also, they have more vitamin C than an orange! So I’ve been shoveling them down to get rid of this pesky cough.
I got back into OrangeTheory! I took the past week off because of my cough but I went back on Monday and it felt good to get back into the swing of things! Full disclaimer: I totally thought I would quit after the wedding but I got such AMAZING results that I’m sticking with it! Seriously, if you’re looking for something that is going to whip you into shape FAST–I cannot say enough good things!
Okay–let’s jump into today’s outfit–we’re combining two of my favorite things–ruffles, and camo jackets! YAS.
I love this look because it’s kind of a riff on tomboy style but with a feminine touch (thanks to those ruffles on my dress!) I think for a lot of people, camo jackets just aren’t approachable because they feel tough, manly, and it can be hard to visualize how to style them in a classic, feminine way.
(By the way, my camo jacket is like 6 years old, but this one from Bloomingdales’ affordable AQUA line is identical!)
How To Wear A Camo Jacket:
A couple tips: Pair your camo jacket with a dress, and it automatically makes it feel more feminine. Even better if that dress is on the shorter side to show off some leg, which helps compensate for the more masculine qualities of the jacket. Also, try to incorporate some feminine and/or classic elements into your look–for example, I love the look of the jacket tied around my waist because it not only accentuates it, but it also allows me to show off the ruffle details of this adorable dress. Other ideas could be adding a fun statement necklace, a cute silk scarf, or a fun heel.
Going back to the dress part. This is seriously the COMFIEST dress ever. It comes in two other colors as well–a cute light blush and an olive green! I have worn this thing to death, especially during the week. It also looks A-DORABLE with my new booties as well! It’s the easiest thing to throw on and run out the door. Plus, it’s only $39! (Thirty nine!) So, on that note…maybe I should get another color too? 😉 I also just spotted this beautiful button-up crepe t-shirt dress from the same brand that is so beautiful–it also comes in lot’s of colors!
Last but not least, I paired with–what else? My Jack Purcell sneakers. I’m sure you haven’t noticed (🙄) that I’ve worn them into the ground this year. (P.S. the secret to keeping white canvas sneakers white: Scotchgard! Make sure it’s the fabric kind! They have it on Amazon!) I can’t help it though–they’re just so classic. I love styles that have withstood the test of time, and these sneakers have been iconic in every decade since their creation back in the 1930’s. Speaking of white sneakers–have you seen these new all-white Converse with the rose gold rivets!?
