Although the kitchen is probably my favorite part of the house, for whatever reason, it’s the living room that I always dream of decorating. Living in the city and never having a ton of cash on hand, you wouldn’t be surprised to know that my current living room looks nothing like any of these, but a girl can dream, right? This summer I’ve made it my goal to finally achieve the living room of my dreams. However, I’m a little overwhelmed at where to begin. I’m not an interiors person by any stretch of the imagination, so you could definitely say I’m somewhat of a newbie in this whole home decor department. There are so many different types of styles that I love, it’s going to be hard to choose! Here are 7 amazing living rooms that caught my eye. I’m hoping to draw some inspiration from all of them to create a style that is uniquely my own.
BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS

For whatever reason, I’ve always been drawn to shelves and shelves of books. Which is interesting, because I don’t really own many (they’re all on my kindle!) Is it counter-intuitive to purchase shelves first, and then have to find books to fill them? I don’t know, but I love it! Something about books just makes a living room feel lived-in and homey.
GRAY & WHITE

Typically I’m a very neutral person in general. I prefer white, gray, and black to any color when it comes to interiors (and often times, my wardrobe.) I love the look of gray and white together. It just has a very breezy, calming effect. Which is funny, because my mother always said that walls painted grey or cool colors (like blue) made her sad. I have inherited many quirky qualities from my mother, however, this is not one of them. I’m completely the opposite! Give me neutrals or give me death.
ECLECTIC USE OF COLOR

Okay, I might have lied up there. Because I absolutely love this living room. It happens to be one of my very favorite home tours on The Everygirl. I don’t know why, because as I said before, I typically hate colorful interiors. However, I think I love it here because the main pieces of the room are still neutral, but the accents are bright pops of color. I could totally live here.
TILE FOR DAYS

I love this room in particular because of her interesting use of tile. I would have never thought of using tile to create a gorgeous accent wall. It looks especially fabulous with the pillows on the chairs, don’t you think? Okay, fine, I can’t do this in my apartment, but I shall file this under “one day when I’m a grown up.”
MA’AM, THERES A SHEEP ON YOUR TABLE

I’ve never thought about putting a rug OVER my coffee table. So…there’s that.
WHITE, GOLD, AND COLORFUL POPS

I found this photo on Pinterest, and was so excited when I clicked through to discover it was the living room of one of my favorite food bloggers, The Kitchy Kitchen. Who also happens to be the sister of my very talented friend, and jewelry designer Amanda, of Luv AJ! Again, shocking that I’m loving a room with so much color, but the reason it works is because of her white walls, sofa, and incredible use of gold (swoon!) accents.

Alright, no brainer here. Everything is white. But I do love how simple it is. It’s a good reminder that I don’t have to have 87 frames to put up on my gallery wall right off the bat. Starting off with just a couple items hanging above the couch can look just as nice.
What’s your favorite? Also, are you an interiors person? I need your expertise!
