Okay, we’re publishing Thursday’s post a littttleee early today because there is a big sale on one of my favorite clean beauty brands–Beautycounter! It unofficially begins today and I’m letting you in on the secret before all the best products get snapped up (it’s not marked on the website yet. But if you enter code LOVE at checkout, you’ll get the discount!)
If you aren’t familiar with Beautycounter, it’s one of my favorite clean beauty brands. They are extremely strict with what they put in their products and don’t use any ingredients that could be considered harmful–going well beyond what regulated by the United States government.
Scary fun fact: The US actually hasn’t actually passed a major federal law pertaining to the safety of ingredients in personal care products since 1938. (To put into perspective how absurd that is, remember that women were granted the right to vote in 1920–18 years earlier!!)
Over the past two decades, our friends in the EU have banned close to 1,400 chemicals in the product formulas of personal care products and restricted the levels of over 250 more in such products. The United States? We’ve only partially banned 30 to date.
There is a growing amount of research showing that chemicals we repeatedly are exposed to daily through our personal care products can lead to chronic disease and even infertility. So, the founder of Beautycounter decided to do something about it, and create a company where women could buy anything they wanted without fear of exposing themselves to products with unknown harmful side effects.
After learning more and more about clean beauty a year ago, I’ve made an effort to switch my personal care products to “safer” alternatives when I’ve been able to find a comparable solution that works just as well as my existing products. I focus on skincare first and foremost, because skin is our largest organ and our skincare products are obviously what our skin is exposed to most often! Think about it. It’s the first layer you put on your skin, morning and night. Makeup comes secondary. (Also I’m a makeup SNOB so it’s been harder to find comparable products, if we’re being honest!)
Before you have a panic attack about everything in your medicine cabinet, I will assure you that I do follow the 80/20 rule.
For example, I have truly loathed every *super clean* foundation and concealer I’ve ever tried. So I look for makeup brands that are free of the worst stuff–mainly “parabens”. Even though they might contain some obscure ingredient that MIGHT be thought to be harmful. (For the record, this foundation by Bareminerals is my go-to!)
Moral of the story… My philosophy is don’t lose sleep, but do what you can. That’s why I love these products from Beautycounter. You can rest assured that everything you buy from them is super safe and the following products I love even more than their “non-clean” counterparts.
ANYWAY. I am babbling.
How to save: What you need to know is that currently Beautycounter is running a sale through 8/13 offering 20% off almost every product!
Right now though, this isn’t public knowledge. You won’t see this listed on the site anywhere, but when you use code LOVE at checkout, 20% will be knocked off! Huzzah! This NEVER happens. So I suggest jumping on this if you’ve been wanting to try some Beautycounter products, or stock up on your existing favorites!
Want free shipping and 15% back every purchase? If you’ll be purchasing more Beautycounter products throughout the year, it’s definitely worth it to become a “Band of Beauty” member (a $25 fee) where you get free shipping and 15% of your subtotal put toward your next purchase every purchase! That means if you spend $100, you’ll get $15 in credit applied toward your next purchase! (It’s not a credit card or anything like that, it’s really easy!) You can sign up for that right here!
I’ve been using this shampoo and conditioner for more than a year now and I absolutely love it! It’s sulfate free and of course has none of the bad stuff. It is very gentle and easy on your hair, and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg! I like that a little bit goes a long way with both. It’s hard to find a good sulfate-free shampoo that lathers like a regular shampoo and this one does the trick!
Also, I love their Citrus Mimosa bodywash! It leaves your skin feeling super soft and doesn’t give it that “stripped” feeling that a lot of bodywashes and soaps do! It has a really light citrus scent that isn’t too overpowering (Neal uses it sometimes and doesn’t complain about feeling like he’s using “girly soap” 😂)
This is definitely one of my very favorite Beautycounter products of all time! I use it every day when I air dry my hair and it’s been a total game-changer. It gives it the right amount of texture without making it feel crunchy or gross. Plus, it’s really affordable!

Here’s another all-time favorite beauty product. Their rejuvenating eye cream! It has caffeine in it so it really helps perk up your eyes even if you’ve pulled an all-nighter! I like to apply it and let it sink in, then follow with my jade roller (extra plus if you’ve put it in the fridge for added de-puffing!) It’s like a mini spa treatment!

If you’re one of those girls who hates the feeling of having something heavy on your lips, and thus, tends to avoid lipstick as a result. You will LOVE their sheer lipsticks! They come in lot’s of pretty colors (here I’m wearing “coral” which is a great daytime color!). They’re super moisturizing too and won’t flake off if your lips are feeling dry!
I have also yet to try their “Color Intense” lip color (which is more of a matte formula that produces really bold color) but I really want to give it a go! I’ll report back!
Beautycounter products that are next on my list:
I’ve heard so many people rave about this cleansing balm! Blair in particular swears by it and says it cleans her face better than anything else she’s tried! Apparently it comes with a cleansing cloth as well that really power-cleans all the makeup off your face!
Speaking of, you can buy the cleansing cloths separately. I want to give these a go with both my existing cleanser (I swear by CereVe–which is a drugstore buy–and I love Fresh’s cucumber face wash, too!). If you don’t want to splurge on the cleansing balm but the idea of these cleansing cloths intrigues you, you can buy them in a pack of three!
My best friend Tasha (remember the one who I was visiting in Cincinnati?) swears by the Charcoal cleansing bar. She says it’s really helped balance her skin and reduce breakouts!
I love Supergoop’s sunscreen mist (it’s also a super clean sunscreen brand) but I’m curious to try Beautycounters new competitor to see how it measures up! I can’t stand old fashioned cream sunscreen (I know, bad, I know it has better coverage than a mist, but–I am who I am) so a clean mist product is always the biggest winner in my book. Bonus: It comes in a travel size too if you’re carrying-on!
This is one of their newest products I’ve been hearing a TON of buzz about. It’s a very gentle overnight peel that you’re supposed to use several times per week at night–it’s said to even skin tone, lighten dark spots, and target fine lines. Blair raves about it!
