Off the shoulder ruffle shirt: ‘Polly’ ruffle bardot top from Topshop at Nordstrom (it’s only $60 and comes in the prettiest blush color, black, and periwinkle!) I also love this drapy, long-sleeved off-the-shoulder top in the same pretty wine color for only $39!// Ponte Pants: from last season, but these are identical, and this version has a button + zipper so they look more like jeans, but comfier! This pair is also a budget-friendly version // Lace-up suede pumps: c/o Marc Fisher at Nordstrom (also styled in this post) which come in every shade imaginable–including cherry red, burgundy, forest green, and nude! If you’re looking for a more budget-friendly version, this Sam Edelman pair just got marked down to $90! (I also have black flat lace-up versions too, which are perfect for a dressier look when you don’t want to wear heels.) Lipstick: NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil in “Cruella” // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff “Leo” clutch (also comes in several colors–including one the exact same color as my top!) // Bracelets: Tatum Bangles & Elton Bracelets c/o Kendra Scott // Earrings:Tallulah Earrings c/o Kendra Scott
So, it’s officially November.
That means [I realize by telling you what I’m about to tell you, that I run the risk of you wanting to murder me] that holiday season is officially upon us. IM SERIOUS.
Don’t worry, I’m not about to start posting outfit photos in puffers and mittens. YET. (Although, Kelly and I are shooting our holiday guide this week! If you were following along last year, you remember the 2015 holiday guide we did together–and this one is going to be even bigger and better! YAY.) If you have any requests on content you’d like to see, let us know!
For now, let’s enjoy this ridiculous heat wave and forget about the impending #Snowmageddon that will inevitably arrive sooner rather than later. (Hopefully it holds off until January or February. Oy.)
Speaking of, ironically before I checked the weather, I packed up all of my warm weather stuff and all of my open-toed shoes and dresses BEFORE I went outside this morning. Oh well! I’m not complaining. Luckily I pulled out my lace-up flats (essentially, the flat version of what you see here) and threw on a lightweight tee and it was the perfect mix. I then hopped on my bike and rode to one of my favorite spots, Goddess and Grocer, and here I am sitting here enjoying the breeze next to the open door.
I don’t know about you, but when it’s acceptable to order cold brew in November, it’s kind of a big deal.
Speaking of transitional favorites, this outfit is full of ’em. I shot this look with Melissa on my way to meet Kelly at her favorite coffee shop, Floriole for a work date! What you don’t know from these photos is that my very first Chicago apartment was just a few blocks away.
It was the cutest little place, but we couldn’t figure out why it was so cheap, being on the cutest strip of Lincoln Park and all. When we moved in, we realized it was because it was UNDERNEATH the el tracks. I still remember being able to hear the “ding ding, doors closing!” announcement every few minutes laying in my bed. (Hey, at least it was convenient for public transportation, and it only set me back $650 a month!)
Alright. Enough memory lane. Switching gears to today’s outfit.
I absolutely love this little off-the-shoulder ruffle top. Have you noticed my obsession with this burgundy color this year? (Hopefully you’re not sick of it–there’s more where that came from ;-P) I love it because you can wear it now, but it’s even more perfect for the holidays!
You also heard me talk about my love for ponte pants in Monday’s post. If you haven’t heard of them, they’re basically like thick, classy leggings. If you’re one of those people who says “leggings aren’t real pants” then these are totally for you. I love them because you can wear them in place of normal leggings, or pair them with heels and a nice top (erhm, exhibit A) and you’re perfectly dressed to go out on the town. They’re also the best ever pants for traveling!
Remember these shoes from this post? I’m going to be wearing them allll fall and winter long. They’re so much sassier than normal black pumps, don’t you think? And don’t you think these earrings would go perfectly with my favorite romper? (Hmmm…maybe NYE? Just kidding. We don’t talk about that yet.)
