First of all, thank you all for your sweet words on stories–I am definitely feeling better and my cold is improving–THANK YOU! I got a little rest and a facial at Leah’s yesterday (btw if you mention my name when booking you get 30% off!) and I’m feeling a LOT better! It’s pretty much just a light cough at this point–definitely liveable, haha!
Second–today we’re back with another little style lesson–it’s one I’ve been playing around with a lot recently, because I’ve been wearing this fleece sweatshirt from Everlane a LOT and have been experimenting with all the different ways I can style it. We usually never think of being able to “dress up” or “class up” a sweatshirt, if you will–but with the right sweatshirt, it’s totally doable and results in a very comfortable, but very polished outfit!
This is definitely an outfit I would wear to meetings in the winter and while I fully acknowledge that a lot of people can’t pull of wearing sweatshirts at work, a lot of you who work in more casual/creative fields certainly can!
(Can you tell it started snowing when we were snapping photos!?)
Choose the right sweatshirt
The key is to get a solid crewneck sweatshirt–to me, crewnecks are just a lot more classic and much more versatile than something like a hoodie or a half-zip. Everlane makes a few different crewneck sweatshirts, but the one I’m wearing here is part of their ReNew line–each sweatshirt is made using 35 recycled plastic bottles! Isn’t that so cool!? The line is part of their larger initiative to use only recycled plastic in their entire supply chain by 2021. How amazing is that? You can learn more about the ReNew initiative here! Incredible clothes AND incredible impact!
Choose a dressier pant
So–you’ve got your cute sweatshirt, right? Now, it’s time to play around with the pants you pair it with. Because the sweatshirt is super casual as it is, in order to dress it up a bit, you need a dressier pant! Whenever you guys ask me for cute, comfortable pants that are good for work, Everlane’s Easy Pants are always my #1 recommendation. They’re great for outside the office as well because they don’t look too “officey” –they’re super cute dressed down with sneakers, and are great for travel!
Add a sleek bootie
Plus, if you saw my post on how to wear ankle boots for work–you know how obsessed I am with these booties! They are so incredibly comfortable and are one of the few pairs of boots that you can dress up enough for work! Reason being–they’re very sleek and minimal. A lot of other boots are chunkier and not as refined, which makes them too casual to dress up for an office environment that isn’t “jeans and a t-shirt” kind of casual.
The #1 question I get is, “how do I wear cropped pants and booties without my ankles freezing?!” You can TOTALLY wear socks! In fact, I think it adds a nice, more interesting twist to your outfit! Choose a complimentary sock color and don’t be afraid to show them off!
A chic coat
It’s no secret that I LOVEE a good chic camel coat. I love how minimalistic this one is (I think t’s actually my first coat from Everlane! Two thumbs up!) It’s one of those coats that really adds to your outfit instead of just being an afterthought. (I know someone will ask, of course, no, it’s it “Chicago in February” cold”–I wear it when I want to look cute and I’m taking an Uber/not walking too far!) If you live in a more mild climate, you’ll get a ton of wear out of this throughout the winter!
Finally-you know I can’t resist a good scarf! I picked this one up on our trip to Portugal (I owe you my trip recap, I know, I’m working on it. Travel guides take SO long!) I love that it adds a pop of print to the outfit as well as extra warmth. The red lip (wearing ‘Gala’ from this mini lipstick set–full review here!) is the cherry on top!
Also–this bag (called “The Form Bag“) is such a great gift for anyone who is looking for an all-purpose bag. (Recent grad going into the workforce? A busy mom who needs her hands free?) The strap adjusts so it can be as short as a shoulder bag or as long as a cross-body messenger bag! Plus, it fits a laptop, too! See all it’s features here!
I hope this inspires you to get more creative with your wardrobe! ?
Huge thanks to Everlane, my favorite brand, for sponsoring this post and being such an amazing partner! ❤️
