Shoes: Dolce Vita, Velvet Leggings: Spanx (they’re so warm and comfy AND have a control top! They also make a faux leather leggings version!) Tote: Old, but similar here and here, Sweater: Bloomingdales (isn’t it the prettiest color? This cashmere turtleneck is on sale right now in a similar color, too!) Sunnies: old, similar here, Coat: Barbour Beadnell (their “Cavalry” jacket is also similar! I am dying to get it in red!)
Guys, I feel like I never even told you this, but we’re in San Francisco this week!
We left at the crack of dawn this morning. Neal is heading there for work and because he has the Southwest card for business, we qualified for the companion pass and I get to go fo’ FREE. I am sooo excited!
Can you believe I haven’t been to San Francisco since EIGHTH grade?
Fun fact: My middle school unexpectedly closed the summer before eighth grade. For various reasons, my parents weren’t happy with any other school option for eighth grade (and we already knew where I was going to high school) so my mom decided to home school me for a year (she used to be a teacher) with the intent on taking me to travel and see the world. Scotland, London, Paris–I don’t remember what else was on the radar, but it was going to be a year to remember.
But then, September 11th happened, and the only trip we took was to… San Francisco. ?
It was the only cool place we traveled that year, but it was still an amazing trip! I vividly remember every detail. The city seemed so big then, but from what everyone tells me, it’s actually pretty small? Is that true? My best friend Michal lives there and I can’t wait to see her and scope out some new coffee shops to work in during the day! If you have any reccos, I’d love to hear them!
This past weekend was so much fun–we laid low on Friday night and then on Saturday night we had my friend Liz’s combo birthday/engagement party (LOTS to celebrate there!) and then we went to Kelly’s afterwords because she always hosts an annual “Halloween” party, but nobody actually dressed up this year, haha!
Anyway, speaking of travel, I think we should talk about these shoes for a second.
They are called “smoking slippers” which I always just thought was a variation of loafer. (Kelly? You’re my preppiest friend, maybe you know the history behind loafer terminology?) Are they loafers? Are they slippers? We don’t really know.
But what I DO know, is that they FEEL like slippers and LOOK super stylish. Being comfortable has kind of become a requirement for me these days where all I do is walk everywhere and my tolerance for uncomfortable shoes is dipping lower as I age. (You can also fold down the back and wear them as slides! Hello, even more comfy!) Sizing: run TTS! Swapping your regular sneakers for shoes like this is a really easy way to mix up your outfit and look polished while still being comfy!
My shoes are made by Dolce Vita (I love all their shoes! You can see more here.) and they required absolutely zero break-in time whatsoever! (Yusssss.) You can get them at Bloomingdales (who is also having a buy two pairs of shoes, get one 25% off sale! Huzzah!) I love shopping at Bloomies because their inventory is unique to them and many of their items you can’t find anywhere else!
Speaking of, Bloomies’ own brand, AQUA, is one of my favorites and they have soo many cozy sweaters right now, many of which are cashmere at a pretty snazzy price, too ?
My sweater that you see here does not happen to be AQUA but it does also happen to be from Bloomingdales! I’ve honestly never seen a sweater this color before and it’s the perfect thing to brighten up the dreary fall weather we’ve been having–so I knew it had to be mine! I also love the intricate cableknit pattern–it’s so pretty! I’m excited to wear it with skirts and my OTK boots as well! (Or even layered over a dress like I did with another sweater in this post!) Again, another super easy way to spice up an everyday outfit–pick a classic item in a fun color you wouldn’t normally expect.
Additionally, these leggings.
My new obsession. Like these slippers, they feel like pajamas, but LOOK like a million bucks. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered them, but they’re very subtle–unlike the velvet velour Juicy jumpsuits of yesteryear. (Sigh.)
I like that they make an everyday outfit a lot cooler than regular black leggings! Plus, they’re thick and warm AND they have a control top. (Hallelujah!) They run true to size as well!
Hope you have a great Monday, and if you have any SF tips, I’d love if you could shoot ’em over to me on Instagram!
