Happy Tuesday, friends!
This is a CRAZY week, and a short one, because we’re headed to Buffalo, NY on Thursday AM to celebrate two of our very best friends. (I know, I say that a lot. But I swear, we really do have a lot of best friends!) Andrew (Neal’s former roommate/BFF) and Emily (his amazing wife to be–the second we met her Neal and I looked at each other and said, “SHE’S THE ONE!!!” 😭 We’re so excited for them!) are getting married this weekend and we are very much looking forward to the festivities, eating plenty lot of OG Buffalo wings (I mean, when in Buffalo!) and to visit Niagra Falls! 🙌🏻
But today, we aren’t talking about Buffalo wings. We’re talking about BLAZERS. (How about that alliteration though?)
I absolutely ADORE everything about this blazer–from the flattering cut, to the color that toes the line between “blush” and “neutral” beautifully, to the texture that adds a little something extra to anything you pair it with. I feel like Topshop is really killing it with the blazer game lately! (I’m linking some other Topshop blazer faves as well as others from Nordstrom and J.Crew below as well!)
I don’t know about you, but I never know what to wear this time of year. It’s still warm, but cool. It’s not summer yet not quite fall. How are you supposed to get dressed!? I hope these three outfits will give you lots of great ideas and inspiration to style your blazer for several occasions in this odd, transitional weather!
Shop more favorite blazers here:
Topshop Blazer (wearing US 4 which fits like a 0-2 normally! Topshop sizing=runs a size smaller!) Everlane bodysuit (runs TTS, wearing small) AGolde shorts (Wearing 25, many say to size down, but I went with my normal size because I like them loose!), Kaanas sandals (run TTS)
Transitional Ways to Style a Blazer:
Jean shorts are one of the BEST transitional items to keep in your fall arsenal because they look so cute styled with extra layers on top! I have two favorite pairs of jean shorts (which I reviewed in this post!) and the pair I’m wearing here–the AGolde cutoffs–are probably my #1 most worn item of the summer!
I also styled this look along with my favorite Everlane bodysuit–which is super flattering and great for dressing up OR down. I love the contrast of the stripes with the subtle weave of the blazer! This look would work with a subtle plaid or a solid blazer as well! It would also look super cute with my favorite Free People bodysuit in white!
Why this look works:
An excellent example of the Juxtaposition Rule at play! The shorts add a casual + edgy (but not TOO edgy) touch when paired with the blazer, which is a piece that typically feels more dressy and polished.
Topshop Blazer (wearing US 4 which fits like a 0-2 normally! Topshop sizing=runs a size smaller!) Everlane Modern Skinny Ankle jeans (Order your normal size if you want them tight, or size up if you want them looser!), Steve Madden booties (BP makes a nearly identical version too that are on sale right now!)
Next up–a look that is perfect for a night out, or even for work if you work in a more casual environment! (I would’ve worn this to work all the time when I worked in advertising!) These jeans are super flattering and accentuate all your curves beautifully! I also love the dark wash that isn’t TOO dark–so they aren’t too contrasting with the otherwise lighter/neutral elements of the outfit. (I.E. the blazer + booties!)
I got these booties during the Nordstrom sale and I can’t say enough good things about them! They are so flattering and so pretty–the color is the perfect “goes with everything” taupe. HOWEVER–if you want an identical look for half the price, go with these B.P. booties! They’re 40% off right now–I tried these on as well and they are very comparable for such a steal! Come in the same pretty taupe as well as other colors!
Topshop Blazer (wearing US 4 which fits like a 0-2 normally! Topshop sizing=runs a size smaller!) Steve Madden booties (BP makes a nearly identical version too that are on sale right now!) Everlane straight leg crops (TTS, wear 25) Everlane washable silk blouse (Runs TTS. Wearing size 2) Everlane Tote
This might be my favorite outfit yet! You saw this same combination of the Everlane washable silk top + Everlane straight leg crops in my last Everlane capsule wardrobe–well, here it is, but remixed with the blazer + neutral booties! I love it SO MUCH. I’m such a sucker for white on white (or, I suppose, in this case, off white on off white 😉) It’s such a chic outfit that would be appropriate from work to a dinner date. Red lipstick is encouraged, of course. 😉(I’m wearing Beautycounter’s “Girls Night” here!)
