You’re getting TWO posts today (Friday’s post is going up a bit early Thursday night) because I’m teaming up with my friend Natalie again for another little IG Story Styling session, and I figured–why not turn it into a blog post, too?
If you don’t yet follow Natalie, you REALLY should. I absolutely love everything she posts–she not only does a ton of styling tips and capsule wardrobes, but she’s also incredibly down to earth and I love her posts about body image and treating ourselves with kindness. She also designs her own beautiful minimalistic jewelry which I would highly recommend checking out!
Today on Instagram stories, Natalie and I are teaming up to both style leopard flats several different ways to give you tons of wardrobe inspiration and hopefully some new style tips and tricks you didn’t know before!
“Why leopard flats, Jess?” you may be asking.
Well, because you guys often ask me for good recommendations on cute flats that are ideal for work–and the thing is… I am kind of a hater of flats. ?(Closed toe ones, that is.) They are always so uncomfortable and they often make your outfit look frumpy if styled with the wrong thing. I think you have to work harder to make flats look cuter–I don’t know, I’ve just always been a very tough critic.
BUT, when I saw this pair of leopard Cole Haan flats as part of the Nordstrom sale AND saw that they have amazing reviews, I thought––hmm…these may be just the flats you guys have been looking for. I shall test them out and see!
And guess what? Two thumbs up! I loved them so much that I dmed Natalie and said, “Let’s do a leopard flats styling session!!” and she said, “YAS!”
Here’s the scoop on said chosen flats:
Cole Haan Calfhair Ramsey Flats: $99 (marked down from $150)
Part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and also available in nude, navy, black and red!
Sizing: Slightly big. If you’re in between, go with the smaller size. If you can swing it, order both sizes and return the size that doesn’t work! These will probably completely sell out shortly so if you see both sizes, grab them both just to be safe.
If your size is sold out: Keep checking back! Nordstrom restocks on a rolling basis as returns come in! Also, I searched for these on every other site but it seems like these are a style exclusive to Nordstrom (at least right now).
Another cute pair: These Sam Edelman pointed toe leopard flats–also have great reviews! (I’ll also link more in the widget a bit further down!)
What about Rothy’s? Rothys are another great shoe that I keep hearing about over and over! They’re made from a magical knit-like material that is actually made from recycled plastic bottles, and they’re machine washable. I do not own any personally (they’re filed under the list of “things Jess needs to buy to test out and review” but I just haven’t gotten there yet.) However, I CAN tell you that I have so many friends that RAVE about them–and they’re actually quite similar in style to the ones I’m styling here!
How to wear leopard flats 6 ways:
Quick reference: click to shop all the items I’m styling in the looks below!
I really tried to focus on looks that were classic, versatile, appropriate for various work environments (I tried to have something for everyone–because you guys always say that workwear is your biggest struggle!) and I also wanted to make sure I was using pieces that are wearable now AND later. I hope you love!
#1: White on white–a crisp white button down + white wide leg crops.
Obviously I couldn’t NOT work some of my favorite Everlane pieces in here, amiright? I adore these cropped white high waisted pants. I wear them all year round! Pair them with a classic white button down, and you have a polished outfit that is great for meetings, lunch, anywhere and anytime you want to look sophisticated but comfortable at the same time!
#2: My go-to simple + classic combo:
Jeans: AG Farrah High Rise Skinnies (run TTS! Almost completely sold out at Nordstrom BUT Bloomingdales has the Farrah’s in a different wash with no raw hem also at 30% off! (If you want it raw, just cut off the hem, haha!) Top:Old, but J.Crew makes a great one at 30% off right now! Shoes: Cole Haan–see above!
Same exact outfit, but with jeans instead of the wide leg crops! This would make a great “casual Friday” outfit for the office anytime of the year (or, if you’re like me and you came from a more casual office setting–this is applicable to Monday through Friday, haha!) It’s stylish but still very professional. This is my personal go-to outfit formula anytime I have meetings!
#3: With a white skirt for the office:
Tank: Similar here on sale for $38 and fully stocked! Sweater: Similar here and here, Skirt: Everlane Patch Pocket skirt–runs TTS, wearing a 0! See three other ways I styled it in my Everlane Summer Capsule Wardrobe! Shoes: Cole Haan–see above!
A great easy summer or fall work outfit! I would’ve worn this combination a ton at my ad agency job! (And these shoes would’ve stood the “running back and forth to and from the creative department 50 times a day) test. ?This outfit easily transitions from day to night too! Just remove the sweater and add a fun earring!
#4: With a fun jumpsuit:
Jumpsuit: Amazon (!!!) Another great $33 steal! Also comes in a natural/linen color, and navy as well! Wearing a small, runs TTS–it’s very forgiving! Moto jacket: old, but nearly identical here and one of my favorite brands for moto jackets! Shoes: Cole Haan–see above!
I rarely think to put yellow with leopard print, but it WORKS so well! Who knew!? This Amazon jumpsuit is obviously a no brainer with a pair of summer sandals, but you can easily dress it up for dinner (or even for work, if you work in a more casual office!) with these chic leopard flats and a moto jacket.
#5: With a wrap dress:
Funny enough, I just saw Kelly post this dress in black! ?It’s part of the Nordstrom sale and still in stock! She wore it to her Aldi meeting in NYC today!
I loved this pretty red, but I will admit it’s more ruby than it looks online–which I love! I feel like its hard to find a wrap dress that isn’t too low-cut, and this one isn’t! It’s just LOVELY! It does run big though! (FYI I also cuffed the sleeves here because I’m weird and can’t wear sleeves if they aren’t cuffed.) I think the leopard flats add just the perfect amount of pattern, too!
#6: With a blazer and ponte pants for work:
Blazer: Topshop (wearing size 4–I’d say it runs TTS!) Tank: Similar here on sale for $38 and fully stocked! Pants: Vince Camuto Ponte Pants–part of the Anniversary sale, marked down to $58 from $89! (wearing 0/25–the reviews say they run big but I did not find that to be true at all) Shoes: Cole Haan–see above! Earrings: A bday present from my wonderful SIL last year, but Lou & Grey has very similar!
I LOVEEE the color and texture of this blazer with the leopard flats! Such a great way to mix patterns without being too overwhelming. It’s such a cute blazer to wear during cooler summer nights, even–with jean shorts, or regular jeans!
Because you guys always ask for workwear ideas, I got these charcoal Vince Camuto ponte pants (they’re part of the anniversary sale and still in stock!) that had great reviews–I also like them but didn’t love that they were full length (I’m 5’6 for height reference–I just think ankle pants are way cuter and full length pants are meh) so I cuffed them and I like the rolled look! You could also take advantage of Nordstrom’s free basic alterations and hem them so they’re cut at the ankle!
