Happy Monday guys!
This weekend was a complete whirlwind (more on that in a second) and since this summer has been non-stop, I thought it would be fun to do another “behind the scenes” sneak peak of what’s been going on in life outside of the blog and what you see on Instagram. I’m currently on my second cup of coffee (which I recently learned to make in a French Press–I’m such a grown up these days) and blasting T-Swift (which counter-balances the French Press grown-up qualities) so its not a bad start to the week!
One of my favorite things to do when things have gotten busy is to lay in bed and look back and all my iPhone photos from the last few months. Isn’t it funny how many moments you totally forget about?
Here are some of the iPhone moments that have successfully captured life lately:
Dinner in Lincoln Park:
When you get lost trying to find the restaurant and you find yourself walking alone, barefoot in the grass by the side of the road. Whoops!!
That time I found Neal’s missing sunnies:
I’m notorious for stealing Neal’s sunglasses (he owns several pairs of Ray Bans that I like to swipe) and he was convinced I had lost his new favorite pair. Weeks later I found them in between the nightstand and his desk. I decided to tell him the good news with a “Oh, look what we have here?” selfie.
I am so lucky to still have such a tight-knit group of friends from my sorority. I feel like the older I get, the rarer this becomes. So many of us live in Chicago (pictured here) and this memory is one I will remember forever. Kristine (the blondie laying across all of us!) had just gotten engaged. The quick version of the story: Her fiancee proposed on his roof, and they went for celebratory drinks at a riverside restaurant. Then their family and best friends surprised her by pulling up in a Yacht–we drank lot’s of champagne, cruised down the river, and ended the night watching the Navy Pier fireworks. Magical.
When I met Rebecca Minkoff last week:
One of my style idols! She was at Nordstrom celebrating the launch of her new Fall collection, and even though the photo was WAY overexposed, I mean, who cares right? So cool!!
Speaking on Teen Vogue’s Back to School Saturdays Panel:
This past weekend I got to hang out with the Teen Vogue team and speak on a panel with Teen Vogue’s Style Director, Andrew Bevan, and Jen, Vlogger from From Head to Toe. I met so many amazing girls and made lot’s of new friends. Neal was also such a trooper, I can’t think of many guys who would be willing to spend their entire Saturday at a back to school fashion event, but he didn’t complain. He’s such a gem.
P.S. MY NAME IS ON THAT SIGN!!
#CliquotMail dinner at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel:
I mean, just look at this tablescape! We had so much fun, not to mention, learned a lot about rosé! I also think the view from this hotel might just be one of the best in Chicago.
Packing, you know, the essentials:
During the move, I had to snap this photo of Neal’s essentials: football helmet and samurai sword. Bahaha.
Also, this moving box rental company saved my life. More on that in a later post, but if you’re moving, definitely check them out!
The adorable little beach at Crystal Lake:
You remember when we were up in Michigan for my friend Hadley’s wedding? We spent many an hour out at this little beach–take me back now!
Kendra Scott comes to Chicago!
Earlier this summer, I got to have dinner with the girls at Kendra Scott, and preview their new Mystic Bazaar line. Plus, they just opened their store in Chicago–I’m so excited to have them in the Windy City!
One of the highlights of the summer–getting to see Taylor Swift at Soldier Field. I don’t know what they put in the water, but my love for her went from pretty above average, to cult-like obsession. It was hands-down the best concert I ever attended.
Laughing so hard it hurt:
This past Saturday night in Indianapolis (post Teen Vogue event!) celebrating my friend Courtney and her -1 year anniversary (one year until she ties the knot with her love, Matt!) Pictured here: my college roomies–the two Courtneys (Courtnies? :-P) on the left, Ally, and me!
When you’re a blogger, often times mystery packages show up at your door. This one was perhaps the most intriguing (and SO fun–I seriously LOVE surprises!)
One of the PR companies I often work with is partnering with Walgreens for a #MysteryHairCare campaign, and they wanted to get my opinion on a mystery shampoo and conditioner, without revealing the brand. (You know, non-biased feedback!) I never need an excuse to try a new beauty product, so I was in.
I’ve been using it the past week, and so far, all good things! A couple takeaways:
It’s made my hair very silky and soft. If you follow my blog often you know I don’t blow-dry my hair, so a shampoo that helps it air-dry smoothly is really important! I also love love the smell. Neal even commented on how great my hair smelled!
Any guesses on what brand this is?! This week, they’ll be spilling the details on what the product is, so check back here next week to get all the details!
Happy Monday, everyone!
