Sweater: Nordstrom (selling out quick, so act fast! Also comes in black! It is the SOFTEST sweater I’ve ever owned! Runs TTS, but you could easily size up if you wanted it to be slouchier!) This sweater also looks similar and SO soft, but cardigan style! Leather leggings: Commando–also run TTS and are very stretchy! The Spanx version is also a crowd-pleaser! Booties: SARTO–they’re on sale too for 30% off, which brings them down to only $89! They run TTS. Coat: sold out (WAH!) and I can’t find a similar one!
Gooood morning and Happy Thursday!
Things are busy as ever over here in full holiday content mode! I’ve also made some significant strides in getting back on the healthy wagon after several weeks of eating garbage and skipping workouts because I just didn’t have time (Excuses. I know.)
For one, I made it back into Orange Theory twice this week so I’m glad to be getting back into that routine. I took yesterday off because I was super sore but planning to make it at least two more times this week! I go to the Bucktown location and usually go to Sean’s classes. I made the mistake of asking him how his Thanksgiving was and he was like, “HAVE YOU NOT BEEN HERE SINCE THEN?! YOU’RE SUCH A SLACKER!” 😂
Second, I did a hardcore Trader Joe’s run on Sunday (my Instagram ladies know I always share my latest TJ’s obsessions on Insta stories, if you want to come over and geek out with us 😜). As a result, I’ve been stocked up for healthy meals all week! Yassssss.
With work being so busy and Thanksgiving, I really let my healthy eating habits go and I definitely noticed it taking a toll on my body, especially with my skin. I’ve learned so much about health and how what you put in your body affects what it looks like on the outside–whenever I’m eating badly, it really causes my hormonal acne to flair up. (If you’re wondering why you can’t see it in photos, it’s because it’s on the sides of my face and you can’t see it from straight on!)
Essentially–eating poorly puts your hormones out of whack, inflames your body, and causes everything from weight gain to fatigue to headaches–you name it!
If you also have problems with breakouts, there’s a high likelihood it’s linked to your diet. One of my Instagram fam (shout out to Jenna!) yesterday recommended a website called Clear Skin Forever and I totally went down a rabbit hole on it last night! It helps explain which foods maybe causing flair ups and is definitely worth a read.
So, I guess you could say, it feels good to be back on the wagon 😉
ANYWAY. Today’s post is NOT about Jessica’s kale consumption, it’s actually about my favorite cozy sweaters that I’ve been loving lately. So–let’s shift gears, yeah?
This outfit is such a classic, casual combination that I have revisited quite a few times even in the last few weeks. It’s great for a casual holiday party, or even for work, if your office has decided to scratch the whole business casual thing like so many places do these days! (Why doesn’t every office do this? It’s ridiculous, really!)
The softest sweater
First up, let’s talk about this sweater, comprised of the softest material I’ve ever put on my body. If you’re someone who likes to feel like they’re wearing really really really soft blankets at all times, you will die over this sweater. It’s $80 too–so it won’t break the bank! It also comes in black, which I am contemplating taking the plunge on 🤔 I find it runs true to size, but is also one of those sweaters where you could go up a size if you wanted it to be a bit more slouchy. Here I’m wearing an XS.
It happens to pair QUITE nicely with your favorite leather leggings–which, by the way, I always get so many questions about!
The pair I’m wearing are by Commando, which Shaheen and Kelly both own and rave about! (They’re actually borrowed from Shaheen because mine that I typically wear were in the wash 😂)
I got my pair years ago, but I usually recommend the Spanx leather leggings because they make some of my favorites and I think all their leggings are super well-made! That being said, I really loved the Commando ones too! They’re definitely thinner and have more of a real leather look than some of the other pairs I’ve seen! Like the Spanx ones, they also have a control top as well, which is awesome!
I love these boots. They are so versatile and comfortable–the toes aren’t too pointy but not too round, and the heels aren’t too high, or too low!
Did I mention they’re also on sale, and come in tan? Yusss.
And, because I KNOW you guys are always in the market for some versatile, comfy sweaters, here are some more of my absolute favorites that I’ve been wearing lately:
Also shot at the lake (how beautiful are the leaves?!) this is the Christmas sweater to end all Christmas sweaters. Red. Pom poms. Cableknit. HELLO what is more festive!? I’d size up when in doubt with this sweater, because it’s a little shorter than most. (I’m wearing a small and I’ve been ordering XS lately.) See the full post over here.
If you prefer your sweaters to be a little longer in length, this is a great option! The ties on the sleeves also add such a pretty, feminine touch! (Runs really big! Size down!) See the full post here!
Free People Cardigan: $78 (30% off!)
If you’ve been looking for super chunky knit cardigan, this is a great one! Basically like wearing your Grandma’s knit blanket in the best way possible. (Your husband will not appreciate it, but you will.) See how I styled it several ways in October’s Capsule Wardrobe Remix series!
Finally, my other favorite super duper soft sweater, and one my favorite wardrobe staples–the Gibson Convertible Sweater! It comes in TONS of colors, and you can wear it off the shoulder OR cowl neck. I’ve also worn it to bed before because it’s that comfortable, haha! I also wore it just last weekend with skinny jeans (my favorite Rag & Bones I’m wearing here are re-stocked! Hooray!) and pumps out to the bar! (Runs big, size down!) You can also see it styled four ways in this capsule wardrobe remix post!
I couldn’t leave Neal’s favorite sweater out of the mix! 😉 I know gift ideas for guys are in high demand right now (Neal’s gift guide is coming next week!) so I wanted to highlight this Schott NYC sweater. He wears it all the time and I think he looks so handsome in it! He loves this brand, and it would make an awesome gift!
