Really though, this isn’t a trick question–how often do you wash your hair?
I’ve found that when answering this question, women generally fall into two camps…
Camp A: “What do you mean? Doesn’t everyone wash their hair everyday?”
Camp B: “If I really tell you I don’t wash my hair everyday, are you going to judge me a little?”
Did you know that it’s actually better for your hair overall to go as many days as possible in between washes? (And when I say “possible” I mean until your hair starts to look like a ball of filth.) Ask any hair expert–and they’ll confirm it!
I can typically go about two-three days without washing my hair–and extend my unwashed locks with the help of my #1 favorite beauty product: dry shampoo. There are also plenty of benefits to dirty hair–for example, whenever I plan to curl my hair, I always make sure it’s not freshly washed–dirty hair holds curls much better than clean hair.
When it’s super humid out? Again, dirty hair for the win. When your hair is freshly washed, it’s been stripped of the oils that help keep it tame–remove them, and HELLO FRIZZ!
Also–did you know–if you’re planning to get an updo–say, if you’re in a wedding–you should never wash your hair the morning of! Clean strands will slip right through those bobby pins! I’ve gotten my wrists slapped by hairstylists for this mistake before.
So–really, how often do you wash your hair? If you needed an excuse to do it less often, you’re welcome!
