I think it’s safe to say we enjoyed the hell out of ourselves in Grand Rapids these past few days! Now we’re up by Crystal Lake to celebrate my two good friends Hadley and Mike tying the knot!
I actually rented a new camera lens for the trip (the Canon 35mm f/2 that Blair has been raving about!) so we were excited to test it out! It’s not often that Neal shoots my outfits anymore–and it was so much fun getting to work together again! He does such a good job, especially for a guy in Finance, don’t you think!? 😉 We were wandering the streets looking for a good place to shoot, and then spotted this awesome mural and instantly had the same idea!
At one point he suggested I try and balance on the tiny slanted ledge about 4 feet up the wall so we could get a shot of my shoes in front of the graffiti. Being that I am not an athlete (by any stretch of the imagination), I basically had to pull some acrobatic moves and lean the rest of my body on his shoulders, while he got the close up. (See example below!) We got some funny looks from people walking by, to say the least!
Anyway, on to the outfit! It’s tough to choose favorites here, because I absolutely adore pretty much everything you see here. I FINALLY found the perfect jean shorts that I’d been searching for–slightly distressed, light wash, high-waisted–thank you Boohoo.com!
Also from my friends at Boohoo is this super lightweight pom pom crop top. It’s super thin linen-esque fabric, and perfect for the high humidity and hot temperatures! (Plus, anyone going to North Coast this year? They have the best festival gear!)
Also worth noting is my new Pearl bag from Lo & Sons has quickly become my best friend, especially when I’m traveling! It has 3 different compartments and holds SO much stuff. Plus, you can adjust or remove the straps to wear it several different ways. But the best part? There’s a little strap you can hook on to your keys so you never lose them!
You guys, I lose my keys at least 5 times per day, so I can’t even explain how amazing of a feature this is. It’s also long enough to pull out of your bag and actually use your keys without having to unhook them.
If only they had one to hook onto my cell phone.
Sorry, this was a lot of rambling about my favorite things–but now, I’m off to celebrate Hadley and Mike! 😉
