Excited to share a quick little video I filmed earlier this week about my HAIR ROUTINE! You’ve only been asking for this for like…years now. (SORRY!)
There are a few different ways that I curl my hair depending on the situation and the occasion, but 9 times out of 10, it’s this method that I use because I’m ALWAYS late running out the door. (Side note, if I have more time, I love doing these old hollywood curls, which I mention in the video! Please note this post is VERY OLD. Throwback.)
This curling method takes, I kid you not–10 minutes at the max. I usually say 10 to give myself a buffer in case it takes you longer (because then I would feel bad) but if we’re being honest, I can do it in 7. SEVEN minutes. (And I have a lot of hair!) I hope this method helps you get out the door faster, too! Remember, it’s not supposed to look perfect–that’s the point! So don’t fuss over it too much ? “Perfect” is sooo passé.
(Luckily the whole “perfectly undone” hair thing is trendy, am I right? ?)
Speaking of perfection, honestly, it’s kind of an undertaking to film videos with my big fancy camera, but the more I think about it, the more I just want to be real life with you guys and embrace when things aren’t perfect–so I filmed this on my iPhone! It was super quick and I shot it in one take, haha! I hope you like it ?
What You’ll Need:
Curling Iron: I use the t3 “whirl” with the 1″ barrel. You can buy them as a set from Sephora (which I would recommend if you want variety in your curls, it’s like having 3 curling irons in one!) or buy the wand and base individually off of the t3 website!
Living Proof Dry Shampoo: I’m absolutely obsessed with Living Proof Dry Shampoo. Despite hearing soo many amazing things about it, I had never actually tried it until they reached out to me to do a partnership on Instagram. (Not a blog post, they aren’t paying me to include this–I just love it that much! ?) Truly, honestly, it’s the best dry shampoo I’ve ever used.
I don’t even know if I would put it in the category of most dry shampoos because it really does “clean” your hair. It’s made up differently than other products and has a patented hair molecule that absorbs and removes dirt, sweat, and odor. Sounds like something straight out of Shark Tank but hey, it works! It also smells SO. GOOD. And really does make it smell like it was just freshly washed!
In this instance, I don’t need to it make my hair less greasy (it’s relatively clean!) but I do love using it for volume and texture. It also makes the curl hold better!
To use: Spray liberally at the roots for volume and lift, and lightly down the mid-sections and ends to give some texture.
Hair Spray: I’m not hugely picky about hair spray, I just don’t like something that makes my hair crunchy. Tresemme Tres Two is usually what I pick up when I’m at Walgreens or CVS and I absolutely love Kenra (it smells amazing and it works really well! It’s what my hairstylist who did my wedding hair used on my wedding day, so you know it’s good!)
Oribe Apres Beach Spray: Oribe’s Apres Beach spray is also very interchangeable with their Dry Texture Spray. I use both as a finishing spray to set the curls and give my hair that beachy, messy texture! It smells SO. GOOD.
Honestly when it comes to scent, I don’t know how I would choose between the Living Proof and Oribe. Personally, I think Oribe wins, but Neal would tell you Living Proof wins. Clearly it’s a toss-up! If you’re a scent junkie, I know you’ll love both.
