Spring Classics

Trench coat: London Fog at Nordstrom, also comes in a longer version. There’s also a bunch of others on sale as part of the Nordstrom Winter Sale right here! // White Jeans: J.Brand // Navy Suede Mules: c/o Sole Society, I love this similar rust colored version, which also come in tan, grey and black! Also love this camel version for $99! // Shirt: J.O.A. from ShopBop (I also love this blue and white striped bow version, also how cute is this blue and white striped one-shoulder ruffle dress?) //Bag: Madewell Transport Tote (my favorite tote bag, they have about every color and material under the sun!) Available on Nordstrom and Shopbop but you can get it monogrammed from Madewell  // Sunnies: c/o Tuckernuck // Lipstick: MAC Lady Danger (I also recommend their lip scrub, which is SO good for winter, and their lip primer!) // Hair: Curled with a Beachwaver curling iron, Oribe Texture Spray //

Umm hello and good morning from ACROSS THE POND!

If you didn’t catch my big news on Instagram last night…

I’M IN LONDON!

Officially the coolest “work trip” I’ve yet to embark on–I’m here for a Burberry beauty event as part of London Fashion Week! **Is this real life!?**

I took off about 5pm Chicago time and we land just before 7am London time, so I’ll have the whole day ahead of me! It’s a very quick trip–I’ll be here for the next two days and then it’s straight to LA to meet Neal and enjoy a couple days of sunshine.

The flight was absolutely wonderful. (Okay, disclaimer, I’m writing this post on the plane, so I don’t know if I should be writing it in present tense or past tense, seeing as by the time you SEE it, it will be past tense. Bear with me.)

This is the first time I’ve ever flown British Airways, or BUSINESS CLASS! Omg. I seriously almost died. I’m sitting here drinking a glass of champagne as we speak. (Blog post writing is always so much more fun on airplanes. Something about booze at 37,000 feet really gets the creativity flowing. Not that my posts are very creative. Blah blah blah word vomity is more like it 😛 See? There I go.)

On the agenda for this whirlwind trip:

I’m staying with at the Cafe Royal hotel, which, according to my research, looks absolutely wonderful. It’s really centrally located, which makes it super easy for exploring! (Huge plus!)

There are a handful of other bloggers on this trip too–although, I’m the only one from Chicago! I’ll be meeting up with my friend Jessica from My Style Vita at 11 today to shoot some outfit photos around the city. (I got some REAAALLYYY cute stuff you guys, get excited!)

Then we have the rest of the day free to explore! I’m also meeting my friend Emily later for drinks. She fell in love with a handsome British stranger and then ended up moving here a year ago. (How is that for an amazing story?)

Then tomorrow, it’s the big Burberry beauty event! We get a tour of the store and then it’s on to the beauty masterclass. I’ve heard so many good things about their products, I’m really excited to try them all!

After that, we’re all going for tea. (I’ve always really wanted to say, “going for tea” and now I can!) After lunch, it’s more free time for exploring! Later on I’m meeting up with my other friend, Jenna, who also lives in London, for drinks!

So–whew! There you have it! Big week over here, guys.

I should probably also talk about this outfit too, huh?

Well, let’s start with the trench coat, which I purchased specifically for London and because I’ve ALWAYS wanted a classic trench and never had one.

It’s by a brand called London Fog, which to be honest, I had heard of but I had no idea they actually made quality coats. I did a double take when I saw it at Nordstrom last week, and the sales clerk (my new friend, Alicia) told me that they are absolutely wonderful. It has a detachable hood, and a snap in liner. I also think it’s the perfect length–not too short, not too long. Oh, and it’s under $200.

Of course, I mean, I want the Burberry trench, and eventually I’m sure I will pull the trigger on that one (I actually heard they’re cheaper in London. Hmmmmm…), but this London Fog version seriously cannot be beat for the price tag.

Also–this blue and white striped top–is it not the cutest thing? It also has a friendly price tag under $100! I love the bell sleeve and ruffle details. (Side note, are you guys like, “Jess if you wear one more damn bell-sleeve ruffle anything I’m going to kill you”?)

The best part about this blouse is that it’s pretty structured–like the same material as your business-casual button-down–so you can wear it to the office with a pencil skirt, on a date with skinny jeans, or even with jean shorts when it gets warmer! Also, how cute are the buttons in the back?

With this insanely gorgeous weather we’ve been experiencing, I wasted NO time pulling out the white jeans. I sadly ruined my old pair in the fall and thus spent the winter with no white jeans, and I love this J.Brand pair! (I have this dark denim version, too!) They are so comfy, they’re more like white jegging pants than jeans.

The secret to finding flattering white skinny jeans is to find a pair that is high-waisted, with ankles that aren’t INSANELY skinny. The high waist makes your legs look WAY longer, and I’ve found that when ankles of white jeans are too skinny, it just makes my hips look wider. That’s why I love this pair–the perfect balance 🙂

Okay, this post is getting way too long. Moving on. Gunna watch a plane moving now 🙂 Make sure to follow on all my London adventures on Instagram and Instagram stories!

How exciting to be able to bop around London for a couple days! I love to watch the little cartoon plane move over the map so much, haha. I also love this outfit: it makes me so excited for spring! Have a great trip!

What an amazing opportunity! I’ve flown British Airways before- it was great, but it was not business class- so jealous! This outfit is perfect for spring! I have a similar trench coat that I’ve had forever and is still in style. Trends are fun, but I always say the basics are my favorites. Have a great time in London town!
