It’s a dreary day here in Chicago today, but I’m hoping that means I’ll be able to stay on task and be extra productive because my mom gets here on Thursday! 🙌🏼 I haven’t seen her since September and I’m so thankful for vaccines so she can come visit for Mother’s Day weekend. We’ll be doing some projects around the house to get ready for LR’s arrival, and I’m just excited to have her here! That being said–I’ve got a lot to get done before then. 😜 Send me all the productivity vibes!
Today we’re talking about my favorite (and most worn) spring/summer shoes! Many of these are old standbys, but there are a few newcomers to the party too that I know will be in frequent rotation this summer. The name of the game here is comfort–part of which I attribute to the pandemic where comfort=everything, the other part I attribute to my thirties. 😆 Either way, the shoes you’ll find on this list are mostly flats with two pair of heels that don’t FEEL like heels. If you’re looking to fill any gaps in your shoe collection, I hope this helps!
Easily my #1 most worn shoe in the spring/summer season. I LOVE them. I will, for me, they required break-in, but none of the reviews seem to say the same–so I think they’ve probably made some changes to them since I bought them 3 years ago. (BTW if you need tips for breaking in shoes: these shoe stretch/leather softening spray and blister prevention pads are a must!) I wear them with everything from jeans to shorts to dresses. I wore them ALL over Spain. I wear them to the beach and the pool–everywhere. They’re truly the best! Sizing: I went with my regular size. Available at Nordstrom and the Nisolo website.
I’ve had three pairs of these sandals in various colors for years and I still wear them constantly. They’re so comfortable, I love the Greek-inspired design, and they’re affordable, too! They look polished enough to wear with a dress out to dinner, but comfy enough to wear walking around all day in shorts and a tee! Sizing: TTS.
Technically these aren’t exactly “summer” shoes (I have the wool ones, although I really want to spring for a pair of the “tree” runners, which are lighter weight/more breathable) but I wear them ALL the time, even in the summer. These are my go-to “walk around the neighborhood” shoes. They’re machine washable, eco-friendly, and an amazing company to support!
My newest go-to pair of cute, feminine, wear with everything white sneakers. They’re also incredibly comfortable straight out of the box, and because they’re leather, they stay and wipe clean easily! They’re definitely more than I would typically spend on sneakers, but after wavering on buying them for two years, I’m really glad I made the investment. They bring me so much joy and I’ve gotten so much wear out of them. Plus, they’re a small, women-owned brand!
I’m not sure I can ever go through another summer without waterproof Birkenstocks! Truly the most practical of all summer shoes. Function like a flip-flop, but more supportive and stylish, and they stay on your feet much better. (I wear them into the water on Lake Michigan where it’s super rocky!) Great “slip on and go” shoes for when it gets hot out. (Not to mention, a camping essential!) Check out my full review + sizing notes here!
Never did I EVER think I would be putting Tevas on my list of favorite shoes but here we are. 😂 Last year’s pandemic summer did weird things to all of us. I turned into a camping lover AND a Teva lover. I will admit, it mostly had to do with the fact that I was really into this colorful desert print, but they bring me so much joy, and are also very practical at the same time. I wear them for any outdoorsy activity in the summer. (The beach, camping, lake house trips–you name it.) Sizing: Run TTS
Probably the pair of heels I’ve owned and consistently worn the longest! I’ve had them for many years and still love them. They are so comfortable, don’t feel like heels at all, and make anything you wear them with look so chic, feminine, and pulled together. Sizing: They do run big, I’d go 1/2 size down.
I actually just got these, but I know they’ll be a staple this summer! I love me an espadrille, and I wanted a pair of flats that felt a little bit more chic/pulled together. (This is me trying to anticipate easy ways to feel pulled together postpartum. 😆) I’ve only worn these a couple of times but they were so comfy, and I love the espadrille look with the square toe and how they tie at the ankle! Sizing: Run TTS
I ordered these sandals at the end of last summer and absolutely adore them. I think they’re the coolest looking sandals I own and the gold goes with everything while simultaneously jazzing up your outfit. I was worried they’d take a while to break in, but they haven’t at all! Also a small, ethically made, Black woman-owned brand! Sizing: TTS
In addition to the espadrille heels above, these are my other pair of much-loved heels. I almost wouldn’t count these as heels because they feel NOTHING like them. They feel like slippers, they’re so comfortable, and they don’t make your feet hurt, I can walk in them for miles. They come in two heights, in case you’d like a mid-heel instead. Originally I wasn’t sure how much wear I would get out of them, but I wear them with, quite literally–everything. From jeans to dresses, they make me feel instantly 100x more stylish and pulled together. Sizing: I took my normal size, but if you have wider feet they suggest sizing up. Sizes are always going in and out of stock so check Shopbop and Loeffler Randall too!
