Happy Wednesday, you guys!
How has the week been? Good? Bad? Average? Mine has been pretty crazy gearing up for something preeetttyyy exciting, which you’ll learn about in a couple days 😉 Monday was spent working from home all day, and then I met up with one of my good friends from high school (who I haven’t seen since high school!) who was in town for a conference. We had a late dinner at Beatrix (a great River North spot, if you’re looking for a good place for dinner!) and spent a couple hours catching up. Isn’t it unreal how fast time flies?
Tuesday was spent getting some work done from my place in the morning, and I met Blair in the afternoon for a work date at Soho House. We snapped some outfit photos (coming soon!) with some cute new finds I picked up last weekend. (Side note: I always feel so awkward shooting in front of restaurant windows with people staring through at us, so if you ever see me shooting photos through a restaurant window, come say hi, okay!?)
Okay–enough small talk–let’s discuss these outfits! (Yep, that’s plural–you get a double whammy outfit post today!) I’m partnering with Aerosoles to show you how to style these cute new spring wedges, two ways!
Look 1: Springy Date Night
Oh gosh, this dress. I am OBSESSED. I love that it’s the perfect combination of classic and preppy with a slight french-inspired flair. (AKA my style goals in the form of a dress.) How cute will it look with a boater hat in the summer?
Annnnddd what pairs better with a cute springy dress than the perfect spring wedges? I absolutely have been living in this pair from Aerosoles! I love that they’re espadrilles (because give me ALL the espadrilles) and the midi heel is the ideal height for fielding the whole “dressy casual” situation–you can wear them during the day, or out at night. Oh, and huge plus: they never make your feet hurt. (Total win-win.)
Because Chicago is always chilly, a light jacket is always necessary. I got my leather jacket in Florence when I studied abroad there during college–my mom bought it for me as a gift, and it always makes me so happy when I put it on thinking of her! (P.S. I found a semi similar version here, if you’re in the market!) A classic trench is another Chicago staple and would amazing with this dress + wedges combo!
(Keep on scrollin’ below for look numero dos!)
Look #2: Daytime Meetings
Second Look: J.Crew Always Chambray Button-Down // Aerosoles Wedges c/o // Madewell Jeans // J.Crew “Regent” Linen Blazer (also in tall and petite) // Ray Ban Sunglasses // Gigi New York tote bag c/o
While I don’t go into a corporate office anymore, I still do need to look semi-professional from time to time for meetings during the day, and for me, this outfit is the perfect balance of casual, yet business-appropriate.
These truly are the most versatile sandals–again, not too high so they’re still totally professional (I’ve never understood the girls who wear sky-high platform heels to meetings–so not appropriate!) and they’re comfortable enough to not need to throw an extra pair of flats in my bag. They make walking long distances and taking public transportation is a breeze, and add a springy feel to this denim on denim look.
Speaking of which, did you know you could dress up a Canadian tuxedo?! Yep. Turns out, you totally can. My trick is to ensure your top and jeans are of contrasting denim colors (otherwise you might look like a farmer)–then just add a white linen blazer on top for added polish and a bit of preppy/business-appropriate flair. (Is business-appropriate flair a thing?) Once you’re done with work and ready for happy hour, just remove the blazer and BAM (remember Emeril? Hehe.) you’re ready to party!
How do you like to style your favorite spring wedges?
