Sweater: Nordstrom, comes in black, too! Similar versions here, here and here (this yellow version is really cute, too!) I also love it in sweater dress version here and here, and this lace-up back version! Jeans: Levi’s–total steal at $35 on Zappos! If you’re looking for more designer denim, Paige and Jbrand are my favorites! Lace-up flats: old, but similar here for only $59! Bag: old Vera Bradley, but similar here.
Happy weekend, guys!
So first off, sorry for the radio silence again yesterday. I pretty much lost all sense of everything else and focused exclusively on our Winter Guide this week. (Still can’t believe two chronic procrastinators got it done so early!)
I’m currently writing this [Thursday evening] on the Amtrak from Chicago to St. Louis–I’m headed there for one of my best friend’s weddings! I can’t wait to see Ally and Kevin tie the knot and I’m so honored to be part of their big day! (Here is the bridesmaid dress I’m wearing! It comes in so many colors and is super flattering on so many different body types!)
The weather has been SO beautiful lately that a coat has been an afterthought. I was running around like a crazy person getting everything ready and out the door to catch the train, I just realized I forgot my coat. Haha! Whoops! (Hopefully the nice weather continues?)
Anyway, can you believe in less than a week, we’ll all be gearing up for Thanksgiving Dinner? EEEEK!
I’ve always loved Thanksgiving, but it was never really one of my favorite holidays until Neal and I started dating.
His family always does Thanksgiving big–and it’s now such a special day I look forward to for weeks. He has a big family on both sides–all warm, welcoming, hilarious, and so much fun. Coming from a girl who typically only spent Thanksgiving with a small immediate family–this is basically the kind of holiday I always wished for.
Speaking of, if you don’t know what you’re wearing for Thanksgiving, this lace-up sweater would be perfect for the occasion!
Admittedly, I really wasn’t sure about the whole “lace-up” trend. My style has become more and more classic over the years, and I couldn’t decide if it was too trendy for me. I think this sweater really strikes the perfect balance. It’s a really beautiful, and the lace-up elements are still classic without being overly edgy or trendy. (It also helped that I tied it in a bow). It’s so cozy, a bit oversized, and perfect for disguising second (third?) helpings of stuffing 😉
I know you’ve heard me talk about these jeans on Instagram, and I really love them! I hadn’t owned a pair of black jeans in years and I’m so excited about them.
I was walking by the Levi’s store down the street from my house and decided to go in on a whim. I’m so glad that I did! I love that these are high-rise but not ridiculously high. They’re skinny but not TOO skinny, and are really comfortable and soft. Plus, you can get them for $35 on Zappos!!
If you’re looking for more jean recommendations, my favorite brands are typically Paige denim and J Brand. They’ve always fit me really well, are always flattering and really well-made. A great pair of jeans like these will last you a lifetime!
The best part about this outfit is that it can easily be swapped for heels for a more dressy occasion (i.e. if your family does the more “dressy-casual” thing on Thanksgiving). Here, I wore my black lace-up flats for a more everyday look. I love classic combinations like this for running errands, coffee meetings, and the like. It’s put-together, but still so comfortable! (This lipstick–MAC lipstick in “Diva” is also my new obsession! GAH it’s so good!)
Okay, I’m off to the “snack car” to get more wine. I’ll see you back here on Monday 😉
Also, if you have a free moment this weekend, make sure to peruse our Winter Guide! (Best accompanied with a donut and delicious cup of coffee.)
