Looking for an appetizer to make for your holiday party, or Christmas Eve? Why not mix things up this year and instead of your traditional go-to, make some little bundles of sweet and spicy joy instead?
I’ve made these twice now and they have been crowd pleasers on both occasions. The best part is that they come together pretty quickly, since the meatballs are cooked in the oven, they only take a few minutes, vs the traditional way of cooking them in sauce, which takes hours.
For this recipe, I used PRE Brands ground beef which is 100% grass fed, hormone free, and tastes noticeably more delicious than what you can pick up at the average butcher counter. (Chicagoans, you can buy it at Mariano’s!) Then I combined the flavors of whole cranberry sauce (but the jellied kind will do as well!) garlic, chili sauce, chives, cayenne pepper, soy, and chives.
If you’re like my family, we do a bunch of appetizers on Christmas Eve. (That’s appetizers night for the Keys/Guthrie’s) so I wouldn’t be surprised if my mom or sister got wind of these and requested that I make them for a third time this year. (They beat the traditional BBQ frozen Costco meatballs, that’s for sure.)
In other news, I’m headed to Cincinnati this weekend with Neal for my best friend, Tasha’s daughter’s birthday (aka my niece!) It seems like just yesterday I was jumping in the car speeding down there just in time for her arrival. It’s crazy how time flies, right? I’m looking forward to catching up with them and the rest of their family!
