Hi guys,

I’m going to be straight with you.

This week definitely hasn’t been my week. To give you an example, I actually just typed “today has not been my week” and it took me several minutes to even catch my mistake.

I received some really sad news about someone very close to me, like my second father, passing away. I had an outfit post planned for today, but honestly, the thought of posting smiling photos of myself and chirping away about fall booties just seemed fake and trivial. Like anything, the sadness and grief comes and goes in waves, and there are plenty of  “I’m totally okay” moments, but–sometimes when things like this happen, it’s hard to take much else seriously, you know?

So, really, this post doesn’t serve any purpose, other than giving you a heads up. I’m going to try and focus on putting my head down and getting some work done today so I can get back to my regular posting schedule soon. Luckily there is no shortage of work on my to-do list, and it serves as a great distraction. I’m hoping tomorrow I’ll feel more up for an outfit post–but if it lacks more narrative than usual, you’ll know why.

And please do me a favor. You know that really close family member, or friend, that you know you should keep in better touch with? Call them today. You never know how much time you have until it’s gone.

Thank you for being the wonderful, supportive, and kind readers that you are. I am so lucky to have you in my life.

Love,

Jess

Sending hugs! I definitely recommend watching the movie The Rabbit Hole starring Nicole Kidman if you have a chance. I think it offers a superb perspective on coping with grief after losing a loved one.
